Not enough food for baby??

Hi! My lg is 8.5 months old, this is her typical lunch, she can eat all of this, just wondering if I should give her a bit more food as she empties the plate?

If you feel like she’ll eat more then give her more. The worst thing that’ll happen is she’ll just sick it back up.

This is a lot more food than my 9.5mo old will eat in a day!😂

@Kassia she really likes food and not so much her milk, she barely has 500 mil a day

They're all so different, my 9 month old doesn't eat this much yet but if she could finish this I'd offer her a little more until she's showing me that she's done (scooting away from her table or trying to play with a toy) Feed your baby until you feel she's content 🖤

Milk is supposed to be the main nutrition source in the first year of life, so I would really try to get her to drink more for now. My baby likes to have, maybe, 10 bites max and always wants the boob. At 8.5-9mo, they need around 750-900cal a day (depending on activity level)

@Kassia I had many chats with the hv about this, as baby has been gaining weight and staying on her growth curve they are not so worried. And they don’t advise to reduce a meal, she has 3 solids meals a day. It was a much simpler time before weaning 😅

That looks like good amount of food 🥰 I would offer her a pudding as well remember there tummy’s are only small so they don’t need lots food portion wise 🙂 it looks good don’t over think it xx

@Laura thank you, what pudding can I offer her? I’m aware they can’t have sugar until 1 x

How is you little one on solids ? xx

@Laura she loves food more than milk. She eats majortof food on her plate. So far we do lumpy puree and finger food such as steamed vegetables and fruits. I want to offer her more protein and carbs going forward

Okay that all sounds great ! You doing good stop worrying weaning takes time and all children are different ❤️ so some pudding could be as Simple as a yogurt but the no added sugar ones or some blended raspberries And blueberries or maybe rice pudding witch my girls loved 🥰

Feel free to message me if you want to chat or have any questions I not expert by any means but I know how it feels to be a mum and worry both my girls love there food and will eat anything I put in front of them 🥰

Looks great, my 2 year old has never eaten this much.

i would give more milk instead of food if she’s still hungry since their main nutrition should be from milk at this age! this looks like a great amount but it can be easy to over feed a baby so i would be cautious in that! :)

This is about what my kid would have in a meal at that age, and if he was still hungry I'd offer formula after that. Now at almost 11 months he'll eat about twice that and still want a 250ml bottle of cows milk to wash it down lol

I wish my girl ate like that at that age. How lovely. You could always offer a tiny bit more, the worst you’ll get is her pushing it away. If she carries on eating like this, you’ll have no qualms coming off the bottles in a few months!
