Size 16/18 UK

Hey girls I’m really worried about getting pregnant at this size & how much weight it could make me gain. I’m 5ft 3 and 13 stone 5lbs. Has anyone not gained much weight during pregnancy? Obviously you’ll weigh more because of baby and bump but I mean all over body weight. Thanks.

I'm 5'1 and was 184lbs at conception - I just gave birth 5 days ago and was 204lbs at delivery and I'm pretty much back down to my pre pregnancy size already. The biggest factor is going to be diet and prioritizing healthy food options- lots of good protein and veggies/fruits. Limit processed foods as much as possible. I would have liked to lose a little more weight before getting pregnant but thankfully my weight gain was well managed during my pregnancy and I had no health issues during or after my pregnancy

I'm 5 ft tall and was 168 lbs before my pregnancy. Relax! Just eat as well as you can and give yourself proper nutrition. You need it. Your body will adjust! I think I only gained around 15 lbs total and gave birth to a 6 lb 9 ouncer, but don't compare yourself against other women, all pregnancies are different.

I was a size 18/20 when I got pregnant. I lost weight my first trimester but gained about 20 lbs overall (my son was 11 of those lbs). I did not gain all over but I did gain a ton of stomach fat and lost my hourglass shape until I can afford a tummy tuck thanks to diastasis recti. It’s going to change your body composition regardless of what size you are when you start. But if you want and love kids it’s worth a slightly bigger waist imo

Thanks for sharing your concern. I think everyone’s experience will be slightly different and there’s not a lot of predictability to it. I can share I was a size 16/18 when falling pregnant. In totally my overall weight in cream was a stone. I was pregnant with twins. They and the extra weight from the pregnancy support such as extra blood, amniotic sac and fluid and placenta weighed more than a stone. This means I lost weight. I believe mostly because side I completely lost my appetite and had food aversions to most things early on. Also the babies growing would have been using up a lot of energy.

size 16-18 here and i actually lost weight with both of my pregnancies

Like Sarah and Tegan above I lost weight in both my pregnancies so I’m now the thinnest I’ve been in years going from a size 20 to a size 16.. Lost 1 1/2 stone in my first and 2 stone with my second. I was under consultant supervision with both due to being an older parent and apparently if your BMI is higher to begin with weight loss in pregnancy is not unusual. Now to just keep it off!

This is my second pregnancy, first baby I gained 2kg between booking and 3 days before birth, she was 2.5kg so an overall loss. This pregnancy between booking at 35+5 I’ve actually lost 15kg! Xx
