Baby refusing to drink milk during the day.

He has just turned 5 months today but I would say for the last month he has refused to drink anything during the day, he will cry for a bottle like he is hungry but drink 2oz (if am lucky!) but will happily drink 5 oz every 3 hours during the night when he’s not fully awake. He has been on kendamil since birth but was swapped to cow and gate reflux milk for a short period were he started to drink 6 oz each bottle and slept through the night but it made him very constipated so we had to swap him back but ever since he just will not drink kendamil, do you think he might not like the taste of it anymore and I should maybe change his milk? He’s my second and my first never done this should would always wake in the night for a feed but still drink her milk on the day.

Mine is being exactly the same, takes 3/4 oz if I’m luckily through the day. Has started this since he had a cold. Was on 7oz prior. He’ll be 5 months next week. We’ve not changed his milk or anything but the night feeds he’ll take no problem. My first was sleeping through by 3 months but this little monkey is a completely different kettle of fish. I’m also trying to figure out what to do. I’ve changed the teat size as he seemed to be fussing and my plan this week is to try and get as much as I can in him through the day and reduce the amount I give him on a night…hopefully that’ll encourage him to take more through the day

We had this and we increased the teat size and he now drinks the bottle

@Sarah I’ve just tried him on the next size teat he’s just drank 6oz! The next size was an x teat and running out his mouth a little bit but he wasn’t gagging so fingers crossed over the next few days he gets used to the quicker flow! Thanks so much xx

@Becci it’s so frustrating isn’t it, doing night feeds isn’t the issue my little girl didn’t drop hers until well over one but she would drink and eat during the day, I have just tried a faster flow teat as suggested by the lady below and he’s just drank a full 6oz so maybe give that a try too, it must be a boy thing they don’t want to work for their milk! X

@Jessica yea I gave him a bottle with a bigger tear and he drank the whole thing so lazy boy syndrome strikes 🤣

Hi Jessica, our baby went through this as well for the past 2 months also started when he had cold and was constipated. We can only feed him when he’s asleep. We went to see HV and they said to cut down his feed at night from every 3 hours to 4.5 hours and eventually he’ll feed during the day. Some days we’re still only able to feed him during the day when he naps. Also, if he’s awake during the day we distract him with toys (we’re trying not to make this as a habit and trying to cut this as well). We also change the teats to bigger size. Our baby is also on Kendamil, which one you use? We use the first infant milk not the organic as we found that the first infant milk got additional probiotics to help with digestion (he was constipated with the organic one). Hope this helps
