I’m having such a hard time because of all the different information out there. My pediatrician said only 1 new food at a time for 3 days, but I’ve seen other pediatricians say that’s only for allergens. And then I see some who are giving their babies a variety of foods at every feed. It’s all so overwhelming. We’re starting with purées / mashed foods and once she gets more comfy swallowing we’ll do some more solids. But we do allow her to feed herself with the purées. We offer a few different eating utensils at a time

Same as Katelyn, but it is so overwhelming. I wanted to do blw but I panicked after the first food, so we are doing pure/mashed foods for now until we get the hang of it. I took a course before starting but still it feels scary. We are meeting with the pediatrician this week, we’ll see what she says.

We do 1 new food every 3 days, but then give her old foods at some feedings too. When we introduce a new food, it is the ONLY solid food that feeding. We then give it over the next few days. Sometimes babies don’t show an allergy to something until they’ve had it a few times. Our “new” foods might be a new purée or it might be an actual piece of food like a piece of strawberry, banana, or green bean. Even if she’s had the purée version or visa versa, we treat the purée/solid version as “new.” So, if she’s had purée banana, that’s different than a piece of banana. That might just be us being overly cautious, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Doing blw. Love the solid starts app, even without a subscription I still get lots of great info. They have a wonderful Instagram page too. My girl is great at bringing food to her mouth. And I've been giving her a variety of foods at a time unless it's a common allergen. I space that out. If you have Facebook I recommend joining BLW for Beginners and Beyond'. It's super helpful for first time moms. I also feed my daughter when my husband is home because if anything happens I'll feel better knowing someone else is there to help Your baby doesn't need teeth to eat solids. Many foods can be boiled and cooked to be soft enough for their strong gums to mash it. If they're red let them go ahead. If they're blue they need help from you. Meaning if they're gagging or coughing then they're still in control of getting the food out of the mouth. But if they're wheezing and not really making any sound then that's choking. Taking a CPR class can help with these worries

I’ve got the solid starts guide to the first 100 days, dm me I can send it over to you
