Screen time

Hello, just curious to know if your toddlers have screen time as in iPad time? I’ve got an iPad and my daughter keeps wanting to play on it. I’ve found myself giving it to her for an hour or so in the morning so I can clean up and tidy the house. Now she’s getting in the habit of asking for it every morning and I’m just worried I’ve created a bad habit? She’s playing on YouTube kids. It’s not a proper toddler one but I’ve put parental controls on it. I’ve got really bad mum guilt that I’m being lazy by giving her time on the iPad and don’t want it to turn her into a zombie 😅 I’m not anti screen time I’ve just seen a lot of stuff about how screen time is bad for them. Just curious to know do your children go on an iPad and if so how often? Thank you.

Kids youtube is what makes my life easier to clean

Mi child watches TV on the morning while I get stuff ready or in the evening while I make dinner. He doesn't uses iPads or phones but just watches netflix on TV. I give him a choice of what he can watch. Usually something not super stimulating

Ive read that a tv is better than an ipad as the child doesnt have complete control. Perhaps may help with the mom guilt just putting on the tv. I try and do movies over youtube because youtube just has so much stupid stuff its easy for the algorithm to go mrs rachel and then some weird (no speaking just sounds) very overstimulating egg cracking or something lmfao or even amazon prime has blippi and that so may be better for content. We do do youtube though for songs and like baby shark, danny go etc lol. I find my son ends up playing in front of the tv or just leaving and starting to play mid show (thats where I think the tvs better). Totally your call no judgement. and when I turn off the tv I just say bye (show or movie name see you next time) he joins in and we turn it off without issue usually.

I second the tv for screen time over the iPad, I too was giving my son the iPad in the mornings to see to the baby or do something and it became habit for him to watch it in the morning and he’d start off with a child friendly show but then click click and click until a grown man playing with toys or something came on which I didn’t like. Still a work in progress he has it in the car most times and still some mornings but I find he gets bored of the tv quick and plays with his toys more x

My son only has used the iPad on an aeroplane or on holiday for an hour when we want some peace. At home, he never has it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ My son would've addicted, he likes the TV but again we only have the TV on and hour before bed.

Tv over iPad!! My girl was about to watch cartoon zombies the other day because she swiped one too many times (luckily I watch her and monitor it closely) With tv she can’t swipe so it stays on cartoons etc If it’s easier to do the iPad, put Disney+ or Netflix on
