Following for any tips and tricks. I have an 8 week old EBF and we want to try a bottle and she won’t have any of it

I’ve introduced a bottle after a week and a half just like once here and there so dad can feed her too and she’s only 3 weeks old but takes it really well so I think it’s better to start doing it earlier rather than later! But just be patient and keep trying I think and they’ll get there as it’s another new thing for them to learn!

We introduced later and it wasn't working so we moved to a sippy cup instead and gave it to her with a snack or a meal and it took about a month but she would then take it without the food when I wasn't available to feed.

I'm following as have tried since birth for 8 months for my little boy to take a bottle so some pressure is off me. I have a collection of bottles, teats, tommee sippy cup and doidy. Doidy has been the most successful but very slow. But really he wants non of it! @Beth I'm going to try with meal!

Have you tried getting someone else to give the bottle? While you’re not in the room

You don't have to give it in a bottle, try a sippy cup. My LB prefers a sippy cup or open cup if it's not direct from the boob good luck x

@Nikki but at what like age did you give a sippy cup?

From 6 months, as you can give them water in a sippy cup. I know others have used an open cup from younger, it's not uncommon with ebf babies for them to not want a bottle.

Mine is 11 months now

@Nikki right ok my LO is 2 month old and will not take a bottle and really need her to ideally so I can go to the hairdressers haha x

@Alex I took my LO with me to the hairdressers, I used to breastfeed him whilst my colour processed. 😅 Now he's older I can feed him snacks. You could always try an open cup, like the easy tots Diddy cup. Or even off of a spoon I know nurses do this in hospital with very young babies. Mine would take baby paracetamol off the spoon at 4 weeks old when he had his tongue tie cut. It's worth a try. You can spend a fortune on bottles otherwise. Also just another tip, if you try the bottle again try get someone else to give it and you be in another room. Sometimes the need for the boob is too great 😂

@Nikki not heard of those cups!! Yeah I’ve not been in the room and that hasn’t worked so far. Yeah been looking at getting more bottles I haven’t a clue… but it’s like so hard taking her I’d have to go with someone else x
