Baby has no interest in solids?

Hello my baby is 6.5m old and we started with table foods and purées with an attempt to do BLW. Most times he doesn’t want to eat and will be fussy and when he does he doesn’t want to sit on the high chair and after two of three bites he’ll get fussy again and stop eating. Now I don’t want to distract and still want to continue to BLW but I resort to feeding him myself most times. And talking about distraction he’s always distracted when eating. How should I generate his interest in eating solids? I am still breastfeeding on demand do I reduce feeds?

It takes time for our LO's to adjust to solids (blw or puree). When we started, my LO wouldn't eat anything, and when he tried the food, he only made funny faces, spat it out, and pushed it away. I accepted this and told him we were finished and let him come off his Highchair. Milk is still the main source of nutrients until they are 1. If he takes a few bites and then wants to finish, I would accept that and then just keep offing meals everyday, with time, he will develop more interest. Eating together and role modelling is important, showing you enjoy the same food and show him how you chew. When my LO started eating more, he also preferred to be spoon fed, which we did for a while, letting him have the spoon as soon as he showed interest, and then I started to introduce more and more finger food. He eats a bit of everything now and is on 3 meals and still loves his milk (ebf). I found that weaning is one day at a time, and I'm sure your LO will soon start to eat more 🙂

I think my timing must be off as well cuz so I’m not sure what times work for your LO and how you time your feeding naps and solids but if you have a schedule I’d love to know.

With solids, I started with lunch only and tried to keep it to the same time of the day to indicate a new routine for our little ones. My LO got a bit constipated, so I started to introduce fruit purees for breakfast and have only done dinner for the last 3 weeks (my LO is 9 months). I breastfeed on demand, so a schedule doesn't always work, but it is worth keeping in mind that milk should be offered first and then food 1.5/2hrs later(this isn't always possible bit a good starting point) If my LO wakes at 6, I would breastfeed in bed and then get up to play a bit, get dressed, ect, and then have breakfast around 8. He tends to nap around 10 ish, and I've always breastfed after naps rather than before, so when he wakes up, he tends to ask for milk, and then we will have lunch around 1pm. With going out for classes, ect, it can change this up a bit, so just go with your LOs cues xx

This helps thanks you! I’ve been waiting 1 hour after feeding to offer solids so I’ll def wait a bit longer so he can generate some appetite
