Guilt

I’ve just taken my first anti-sickness tablet at 11 weeks after throwing up continuously for about an hour, and I’m not sure why but I feel really guilty about it. Like I’m letting baby down 😔. Not sure why I’m posting this really other than to see if anyone else has felt the same?

I totally understand what you mean! I was prescribed anti sickness but was adamant that I didn't want to take them because, what if something happened. However it got so bad I had no choice. Just remember you've got to take care of yourself so your body can take care of baby, you aren't letting anyone down, you are just doing what you feel is best. Being/feeling sick is not fun and makes you feel awful 🤢 Do what you need to do and what you feel is best, nobody knows your body better than you do! Xx

It won't hurt your baby and it will hopefully make you feel better. You're not letting your baby down, the opposite in fact! It's so hard to function normally, fuel your body properly or have any exercise when you're feeling nauseous or vomiting all the time. Taking anti-sickness medication hopefully means you can take much better care of yourself and therefore your baby. Even mentally, it's so stressful when you feel unwell and stress isn't great for your little one so if it takes away some of that stress it's surely a good thing! You're doing amazing xx

Thank you both xx

Please have a look at the Bumps website. It has so much information where you can put in your anti sickness meds and look at the safety profile. Your GP should have also counselled you on which ones are pregnancy safe. Looking after your health is nothing to be guilty about!! I’ve need anti sickness from very early on and I don’t even want to think how bad things could be without them.
