Those with picky eaters, when did this phase end?

My toddler only wants pizza, chicken nuggets, fries and snacks. I offer balanced home cooked meals and they refuse to eat and ask for something else. Doctor said to let them eat what they want to get them to gain weight. They are tall and very lean. When will they grow out of this? 😢

Commenting to follow bc I want to know the answer to this too, in the same boat with my 2 year old

You can get those pediasure drinks.

My 7 year old is starting to be more flexible now she’s started to lose some baby teeth. She’s still fairly fussy but it’s more workable.

I usually blend up veggies in bone broth with noodles. Let me know if you’d like the recipe. :) my girl is really picky, but she lovesssss the broth. I would not recommend pediasure since they have a few law suits against them for false advertising on bottles.

Still picky at 10 😩

pediasure helps… My little is super picky too. Fish sticks are good if you haven’t tried those yet.

@Rebekah would love if you could share the recipe! 😊

Almost 10 years later and still don’t eat everything but his appetite picked up

You're the parent. Lead by example. Stop giving in to what you think they'll only eat. My two older step sons have had poor examples growing up and are 8 and 15 and are set in their ways. I follow 101beforeOne and keep giving different foods, trying to avoid falling into the trap of repeating the same foods. They WILL eat what you give them if they're hungry enough. I often make my son a plate, but one trick is don't give it to THEM, put it in front of YOU like it's yours, and half the time my son will have the same plate but will only eat off MY plate. So again, lead by example. I'm adamant about limiting processed foods to my son because I see how it affects my 2 step sons. Get back to basics with food when they're young. Studies show the prime time to combat picky eating is before they're 6. After that... Good luck.

If my toddler only wanted pizza, chicken nuggets, cereal, etc... they would be the 1st thing to GO in my house. My step son who's 8 used to only eat pizza, ramen, cereal and I didn't have the support of his mom or my husband to fight it. He's got ADHD now. I'm convinced his diet is a huge part of it. 15 yr old is always sick, won't touch a fruit or veggie. They're f*cked imo.

@Morgan first of all I am very much aware I am the parent lol 😆 Second I spoke to their doctor and she said to just get them to eat, it doesn't matter what it is at this point as they need to gain weight. Yes, I am aware any of us will eat anything if we are starving, I am not really trying to starve my kid. If I stop buying their favorite they won't eat so again I am not interested in having a cranky hungry kid. As I mentioned I provide a chance to eat healthy home cooked meal but they're not interested it in now. I am sure they will come around I am just wondering when this happened for others. Please provide a link to the studies you've seen on this. My kid will eat some fruit and veggies as snacks but not much of it. Thanks for sharing your experience

@Zay🌸 bender: whole large tomato, one carrot, half yellow onion, half yellow and green zucchini, 2-3 garlic cloves, tomato paste, chicken:tomato consommé bend it till smooth in like 3 cups of water. (Add as much of the consommé to make sure it tastes good, I usually do 1-2 cups depending on how much water I put in. Then I add some olive oil and some fideo pasta and fry it up till golden. Remove the rest of the oil and add the broth to the pasta. I add one chopped up celery stick. Then let it boil until the pasta is ready to eat. :) My child is picky and for some reason she will demolish a bowl of this lol

@Rebekah thank you for sharing! I’ve never heard of tomato consommé.. do you make it yourself?

Your doing great mama. This could be a phase so just persevere. my eldest went through a phase where he would only eat fish fingers and 2 years later he’s eating literally everything

@Fiza thanks! How old was he went he started eating other foods?
