Yes what's your questions? X

Im 37w+2. I spoke with triage this morning because I have really really sharp pains in my right rib which are so severe I’m throwing up each time. I’m also shivering and feeling super cold. They sent a midwife out to my house because they said they thought it could be this and I’d never heard of it before. Once here, it turns out the midwife was someone I had gone to school with and we have not liked one another for some time. However, she said that I also had protein in my urine but nothing of concern and that she doesn’t want to admit me unless the pain comes away from my ribcage and goes to my abdominal area. After a quick Google myself, it says that rib cage pain, vomiting and protein in urine are all a sign of this so I’m just looking for a second opinion? Does this sound like preeclampsia at all? The pain itself actually has me in tears and I’m struggling

I’d go into triage if I was you and get a full check, I don’t think I’d be satisfied till I knew for sure xx

Ring them back!!

I’m just stressing because it says online that in most cases they will try induce you between 37-38w which is obviously at the point I’m at! but the triage phone rings straight back to the same midwife. By no way am I suggesting she’d be overlooking things bcos of our past but equally that is a concern I’m now thinking of. Are these signs that you have etc if so I’ll just drive straight to a different hospital as I have 3/4 around within the same travel time

I'm currently in hospital in the same situation, I've had bloods they are normal but I've got other symptoms, the consultant has been round and going to do stretch and sweeps and then induce me next week at 38 weeks. Scary as you want baby to be in for as long as possible but from 37 weeks plus it's normal. Preeclampsia is a scary thing and can happen rapidly. Could try a different hospital but definitely get checked x

Oh bless you! I hope everything goes alright for you!! They said my BP and pulse etc was normal but it’s still concerning. Thanks for making me feel less crazy I’m going to go get checked!!xx

Please don't feel crazy!! Think of your baba!! Please get checked xx

Spoke to a different hospital and they said they won’t see me due to my pregnancy being registered with the other hospital😒 but said it’s unlikely to be preeclampsia if my BP is fine. I’m going back to original hospital and asking to be seen x

I don’t have it but they were concerned as my BP was getting higher and higher and sat borderline just below 140 (top number) for a while. Also had protein in urine and an ache in rib although not severe. They told me to also keep an eye out for sudden swelling in face/hands/feet/legs, headaches and visual disturbances eg blurred vision and another midwife said quite often can be like tunnel vision so you struggle to see to the side of you. I’ve had bloods and been kept an eye on and had scans etc since about 30 weeks (now 38) and all good. They’ve reassured me that even if I had all the symptoms but my BP was below that it wouldnt be it so essentially blood pressure has to be high if that gives you any reassurance top number has to be above 140 to be classed as high. If you have any concerns with anything though especially any of the other bits i mentioned above go straight to triage for peace of mind. Keep an eye on movements too. It’s always best to be sure. Hope you’re ok x

Triage has declined to see me stating that they won’t do anything further than what was done before but advised to go to a&e instead as it sounds like a blood clot to them instead 🤷🏼‍♀️

You can have a small amount of Protein in urine without it being a concern. BP and sudden swelling dangerous signs but it is unlikely to be that if your BP is normal. Your midwife checks for signs of this every appointment too. It's why they do your BP and dip your urine every appointment. They also look for visual disturbances, headaches that DON'T go away. I've had the pain in my ribcage, I had it for a bit, passed and hasn't returned. The issue with pregnancy is that there are SO many symptoms that are just pregnancy symptoms but also symptoms of other conditions.

For the last 2 weeks I've been going to hospital for appointments as suddenly out of nowhere I started having high bp. It needs to be around 140/90 or higher. They gave me pills for high bp and need to come and get checked regularly. They also check for protein in your urine, do blood checks and look for swelling or blurry vision. If your blood pressure is normal than it's probably not preeclampsia. Though you should monitor it anyway. Call them again or go there if you feel something's wrong, they are there to help. Maybe baby is kicking you in the ribs? Take care and good luck 😚

BP is normal so preeclampsia was ruled out but they wanted to test for blood clots. The blood test came back as elevated for potential clots but they said this could just be because of being pregnant. They observed my breathing and noticed I am struggling to breathe on right hand side where the pain is so said they were going to send me for a chest xray. After about 45 minutes further waiting, they said they’re no longer sending me for the chest xray as the two things don’t warrent enough for the test. I ask what could potentially be causing it and they said they were only ruling out clots and sent me home. I’ve now been home for around 30 minutes and the pains are still as sharp as they were at 10am, when it’s bad it’s literally making me short of breath and I’m still throwing up so I’m at a loss on what to do with this one 😩
