Where to give birth Sidcup?

Torn between Darent Valley, Queen Elizabeth, University Hospital Lewisham and PRUH as all vaguely equal distance. Natural birth but with epidural ideally. Does anyone have any advice/ insight?? Thank you!

Had emergency c section at QE and had a good experience x

I had a planned c section at Darent Valley and they were brilliant. X

I gave birth at darent (v. birth) and the midwives were so lovely. But equally other women in my NCT group gave birth at QE and PRUH and also had good experiences.

I was induced at DV and the midwife who delivered my baby was so lovely and accommodating also! I stayed in for a week after birth and all staff on the ward were so so lovely. would definitely recommend x

I had my son at Darent and wouldn't have my next baby there. The Midwives were all absolutely amazing but the OBS consultants really messed me around (they're the ones who get to decide your care at the end of the day) I ultimately had a really traumatic experience and got quite ill. Might have just been me and having potential underlying health issues but I'm having to go for a debrief next week which says everything.

I pushed with an epidural at DV and the midwives were amazing, I can’t fault them. I had a severe tear and bleed which the doctors struggled to locate and fix but I don’t blame them for it, it was in a really difficult place to stitch. The aftercare on the ward wasn’t great as it was so busy, took me 3 hours just to get some paracetamol. They also made us wait hours for his newborn checks which took 10 minutes and not several hours. I would have my second there but would definitely make more noise afterwards to be treated a little better, as they did accommodate much better after my husband complained. I know they are stretched and I don’t want to be horrible about them, but the day after could have been better x

I chose Darent valley and we’d go there again. All my nct friends went to the pruh and hardly had a good word to say about it.

Hi Dana, I am hearing really good things about DV lately from my clients( newborn photographer) , some mixed reviews from QE but that’s nothing new, and PRUH used to be really good but heard 2 really not good stories this month so if I were you at the moment I would go with DV.

I had an amazing experience at DV, from beginning until end even though I had a really difficult birth. Every midwife and doctor I interacted with was super helpful, lovely and willing to answer any questions or concerns I had. I would definitely have baby number 2 there ☺️ xx

I had the most AWFUL experience at QE as did two of my close friends, I wouldn't ever step foot in there again, I'm scarred. Darent Valley were absolutely amazing in all ways xx

You really can’t go by the experience of others it’s so difficult! Everyone has different experiences at the same hospital. I wanted a home birth but just incase I chose based on distance & went to QE, even though I had heard more positive stories about DV at the time.

I had QE and was awful. Labour was induced and the midwife’s just forgot about me. Nearly gave birth in the corridor getting to the birthing centre

Had my first at Lewisham and hated it. So busy, was left without pain relief etc. Just had my second on the birth centre at QE and had such a positive experience, I’m so happy

Hi, I gave birth at Queen Elizabeth and had a great experience. The staff were helpfully, kind and understanding. The birth Centre rooms are beautiful.

@Caz same. I couldn’t ever step foot in Queen Elizabeth again. The birth centre was shut the day I went into labour due to staff shortages
