Maternity pads driving me crazy!

Is anyone else struggling wearing pads? Im not really having heavy bleeding at all but the extra padding is nice from the maternity pads.... I did try some normal pads but they weren't comfy either! I had a few external labia stitches and wearing a pad is super irritating them- being sat down they keep pushing on the stitches and I just can't get comfy now! Any help or comfort ideas welcomed! 🥴🥴

I’ve been wearing the adult nappies, so comfy

@Ellie I've got those too and tried them last night again, I found they just made me feel all hot and sweaty lol 😆 I had to change back to the lilets maternity pads 🥴

The supermarket own pads without wings are even worse lol 😆

I’ve been wearing the disposable pants and maternity pads and they’ve been making me really sore as they push the pad against me. My husband got me some tena pants thinking they were what I already had and omg they are 100x better! No need for a pad and no pressure inside!

@Abi omg I've got tena ones which I havent tried yet! Off I go! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I only tried the always pants before ... I will owe you one if this works, the discomfort is doing me in along with no sleep, cluster feeding etc! Xx

I'd 100% recommend trying reusable 🙂

I’ve got boots maternity disposable knickers with a boots own pad inside. I don’t have stitches or tears etc this time, but last time I put the pads in freezer or put a cold compress inside the pants for pain relief x

@Missy-Matrix I've got some reusable period pants in the drawer which I could try actually! Thanks... I normally use a cup because I hate pads so much lol 🥴

@Sammy thank you! I have got cooling pads to use but I'm 9 days post partum now so the swelling has mostly gone, it's just when I sit down it seems to pull the pad tight against my bits no matter what I do, it's just irritating the stitches because they are on the outside 😭 And the pads are too wide for me as well so they tend to roll up a bit which makes things worse x

Period panties 🙌🏼🙌🏼☺️ I haven't worn anything else since 2020 I believe. Packed some in my hospital bag as well. Only issue is they are all size S (10) and I'm now size L, XL (14) with this baby bump haha

@Gabi the reusable ones? Yeah I've got a few pairs which I use as backup for my cup on heavy period days but they may also be too small for me at the moment lol 😆 How are you doing anyway? Your due date must be approaching now? Xx

@Natalie how’s your bleed? Could you move to normal sanitary pads instead of the maternity ones?

@Natalie Yes I have had them for 4yrs now and they are like new! Some I bought last yr though. All Modibodi brand 🙌🏼🙌🏼☺️

@Sammy it's actually been lighter than my normal period the whole time! I've tried normal pads and they don't seem much better ... Maybe it's just a me problem but I just can't sit comfortably with them 😭 I've just been to Sainsbury's and picked up a few different packs of normal pads to try... Might order some more reusable period pants too Gabi, good idea! Was also thinking of getting reusable nipple pads as the disposable ones of these are just as bad as the maternity pads lol 🤣 x

I used witch hazel on my pads I found it soothed this problem but also with the external stitches (I had one too) it just didn’t get better til the pointy end of the stitch dropped off which took a few days 😬 the WH did help though

@Natalie I feel your pain - literally! Don’t get me wrong it’s still sore but nowhere near as bad

Reusables here and then find a witch Hazel pad (I've got some thicker ones that are like cotton wool rounds or the thin Frida mum ones as well) on top makes things more comfortable:) never got a 2nd degree tear and the idea of a disposable pad against it just feels uncomfortable in my mind

Thanks all, I've been using the Frieda mom witch hazel foam and also spritz for bits too which helps! I've bought some normal pads and they are slightly more comfy for me, I think I'm going to get some more reusable pants too which actually fit me and see how comfortable they are x
