I have an almost 16 year old we go to amusement parks pumpkin patches the trampoline park, taking him to a concert next week, college basketball games
It's hard isn't it!? My girl is always down for 1:1 but with my boy it's more difficult. I have to drag him out of his bedroom first! I'm lucky he is still very affectionate though and loves to get his head scratched while we read something together. We try to do that every evening. We don't really get 1:1 outside the house simply because his sister and my partner are usually with us.
My son’s 16 and he doesn’t like to do as much stuff as he used to with me I honestly think it’s just that age. I just say if there’s anything he wants to do just come see me x
My son’s 15 and it’s a bit of a weird transition trying to work out things we can do together or leave him at home. He’s autistic as well so doesn’t go out socially. I do play badminton with him occasionally or oh will take him for a curry. Or I’ll cook with him which drives me up the wall. He’ll sometimes come into my room and join me to chat.
@Allexys do you do all those things “just” with your son?
Aside from the pumpkin patch yes. I do my best to hangout with him outside of his 4 younger siblings that he also helps with. The concert my younger kids are staying with my sister for 3 days so I can spend it with him for his 16tj birthday
@Audrey yes really hard! It must be a boy thing 🙄 He actually lives with his dad (round the corner) So only see him twice a week so wanna make it special and of course I do feel on edge that I’m not doing enough but it’s hard to get the free time with having another LO 🙈 He never suggests anything he wants to do would rather sit on his bum doing nothing x
Listen to the music, the sooner you find something you like about it, the sooner it will no longer be cool and they'll move on to something else.
