Breast to bottle

Any advice I’m wanting to change over to bottles I am literally constantly feeding him a lot!! Feels like he’s on me constantly, He don’t go 10mins during the day without it I no sometimes it’s comfort thing but I cannot get on and do anything during the day like housework/cook my partners doing it all but I would love to do it myself! We co sleep I follow the safety rules he’s perfect goes most the night so can’t complain there but even a 10 min car journey is a nightmare time I get him in the car he’s wanting it again I feel like transferring him onto bottles would give myself some time/space to do things and allow my partner to help feed him… Thankyou if you got this far!! I’ve tried tommee tippee / nuk and mam bottles and he just pushes them out don’t get into them could he have a tongue tie? Or anything please help x

Hey! I'm no pro but I was told if they can't do a bit of a stretch then they may not be getting the hind milk and draining the boob properly - due to poor latch maybe. They should by now (unless cluster feeding) be able to go a couple hours if not more. Maybe try a dummy? I read Avent bottles are good to transition. There's also a good book/audio book all about feeding - a judgement free guide to feeding your baby, Olivia Hinge

Thankyou will take a listen to the book and next try is avent he can’t take any of the dummies I’ve tried either x

How old is your little one? Mine was feeding every 45 mins for two weeks. He’s just turned 11 weeks and has now started going 2 hours between feeds so hoping it keeps increasing. I give him a dummy for comfort too (Brand is Bibs, the round shape - they are natural rubber latex so apparently more like the breast - he rejected a load of others - I think they sell a bottle too with the same test) good luck whatever you do!

He’s 8 weeks I’ve only ever been able to put him down twice he’s gone 3 hours, I’ll have a look for the type of dummy and see if that helps thankyou for your help my little boy is perfect at night it’s just daytime he’s on me 24/7 x

Re the bottle, my health visitor said it’s about keeping going with it, trying each day. I tried him with some formula and he wasn’t a fan, but is better taking breast milk from a bottle. I use the Tommee Tippee variflow teats. I’ve just started by putting a little bit of milk in at a time - max 30mls to try and get him used to it and so far we are doing ok, but it took a few initial days of crying for him to be happier taking it. We’ve also given the Tommee Tippee orthodontic dummies and he has taken to them really well!

My girl wont take a bottle off me but will of her dad or grandad. I think it makes it harder when they know you can give them boob x

Have a look at the minibie bottles, they worked to get my little boy off breastfeeding but it took a lot of perseverance! Offer after every BF maybe just with 20ml of Breast milk… just to get him used to it. Haaka is great for collecting some let down while you feed off the other side and then offering that in a bottle to baby. Good luck x
