Congrats!!! When you change his diapers, point his little penis down in the diaper. Otherwise they end up peeing all over themselves. No idea how but it definitely happens.

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert, but my son is 7 weeks and this is what works for us 😊 Be prepared for all the mom cuddles 🥰 Pause / take breaks during feedings to let them digest a bit and also to burp. Helps with gas. We started using petroleum in the hospital, so we rub it on the diaper instead of directly on his skin. We still use a small amount, it prevents rashes. I get his diaper ready before the change and while I wipe him, I put a wipe over his penis to prevent fountains 😂 When you have to go out the next day, especially morning, pack the diaper bag the night before. We make bottles for overnight, (and refrigerate). I didn’t worry about heating the bottles, he gets room temp or cold (who doesn’t like cold milk? 🤷‍♀️) and honestly he doesn’t care as long as he gets fed. We lasted about a week handwashing bottles and then used the steri-wash feature on our dishwasher 🤷‍♀️ Hope this helps a bit 💙🩵 You’re in the home stretch, almost there! It’s gonna be the best when he’s here!

@Amalia it does help thank you

@Megan thank you

Another diaper change tip :) Either do a quick wipe with a cold wipe right above the diaper or open the diaper and then close it. Especially in the first few weeks, doing this lessens the chance of getting peed on ! I do this and my partner does not and he’s been peed on many a time 😅 If you notice your baby having a decent amount of reflux- try having them elevated during and after feeding. And sometimes soft ‘bouncing’ will work a burp out better than just patting. During baths it’s helpful to take a burp cloth or wash cloth and place it over their body to help keep them warm. Just poor warm water over the towel every so often to keep them warm. It’s expensive but I really recommend the brand Tubby Todd. I have two under two boys and I use it for both of them. The diaper creme is amazing and a little goes a long way. The cradle cap soap is super effective (especially with the Frida cradle cap 3n1 brush). And the all over creme is great, especially if you live in a dry climate

The only thing I want to add that hasn't been said, and not everyone will have felt this, but I know I did and felt weird at first. I was worried about his little penis and making sure it stayed clean and taken care of. Don't pull on his foreskin, gently expose the opening, and wipe that clean. He won't need his foreskin pulled back for cleaning for a while, but it is good to gently exercise it, particularly in the warm bath. Also, a great way to bathe baby if you don't have or want to use a baby bathtub is to get in the bath with him, bend your knees and put your legs together, and you can lay him on your legs. Or if you have a shower, get a shower bench or chair and same thing, lay him on your legs and use a detachable showerhead if you have one.

As he gets older, he will also really become clingy to you (in my experience and what I've seen with other boys). My husband feels bad because he can't settle our son to sleep (he's 3.5 months now), and he's very clingy to me. I'm usually the only one who can get him to sleep, and he's super cuddly with me, but super talkative and playful with everyone else.

Rub a wipe on lower belly before changing diaper. They pee everywhere😂

Someone mentioned using a wash cloth over him for baths. Use a swaddle or extra towel. Then just uncover what you’re cleaning rinse and recover before moving to the next part. The clingyness is real. My 2 year old purposely hits his head to get cuddles (I would cuddle him without the injury but it’s what he does and it’s like a game to him🙄). My 9 month old is currently crawling all over me and crying. He doesn’t want a nap. He just wants to be in my space ALL THE TIME. He also wants my hot drink which is the only thing keeping me from coughing up a lung. Boys are feral menaces that will warm your heart and show you the true meaning of love. They spend all day pushing your buttons but then will curl up in your lap and it all fades away. Heads up for diapering, once they find their extra appendage, they love playing with it. Every time the diaper comes off, the hands go down 😂

Cotton pads to go over his Willy as he will wee on you!

For diaper changes I use penis covers so I don’t get peed on. Do as much skin to skin time as you can, especially during feedings this will help with milk production (if you choice to breastfeed). Take time for yourself I the biggest advice I can give.

I leave the nappy im changing underneath him whilst im wiping him so if he starts weeing i can quickly fold it over to catch the wee or any poops or lay the fresh nappy underneath and slide the dirty one out from underneath him. Also if theyve pooped whilst youre changing them dont jump the gun too quick because chances are theyve got another one coming a few seconds after 😂

Thank you everyone who commented ❤️ all helps
