Tell me about your “I’ve had it moments”

So today after 6 years I finally blew up with my mIL. She is notoriously inflexible and she won’t eat anything/ has a negative outlook on everything and is always expected to be treated like a guest even though she comes to “help “ im 3 weeks postpartum c section with 2 under two . She had a day of pissing me off yesterday like asking me for coffee while I’m doing dishes, she complained I got her the wrong pastry ( I paid) while I stood in line with a screaming toddler and baby on my boob. She kept commenting baby eats so often. Baby eats every 2 hours and is currently cluster feeding. Today after a few other pointed questions like “ why don’t I cut the labels off my toddlers clothes” ? Because I don’t need to and she’s like oh they bother me. Anyway lots of her refusing to be flexible around food etc Today she goes every two hours maybe she isn’t getting enough milk. I have an over supply of. I lost my cool told her it’s normal and how about she stops making me feel like shit. She breaks down and says it’s communication barrier etc. fine but read the room. Grow up and learn when people look offended. How about not acting like a princess and helping me. Please tell me your stories of losing your cool so I know I’m not horrible

Yoire not horrible, my MIL is similar so I stopped interacting with her 😆

We have a rule that if you let the two dogs out you are supposed to be outside watching them. They have never listened or respected the majority of rules when it comes to the dogs...turns out it's the same with a baby 🙃 At this time I'm super pregnant, feet sore, headache, and sleep deprived. I let the dogs out and keep watch. I note where my dog poops so I can have hubby pick it up later for her vet appointment. I let them in and head upstairs to rest. I lay down and immediately hear the sliding glass door open. Look out the window and one dog is making a beeline for the poop. Get downstairs and mil is wrapped in a blanket on the couch. I go yell at the dog to get inside and Mil has the audacity to come outside and GLARE at me telling me not to yell at the dog and it's not her fault. (First time ever) I glare pointedly back and say No, it isn't HER fault. And I turn on my heel leaving her spluttering that she's sorry and she guesses it is her fault because she didn't watch them. They left the next day.

@Kelsey she said she’d leave before Monday after I said my piece and I just replied “that’s mature” I am such a people pleaser so for me this was a major thing to have exploded. I’m happy to hear you’ve also had the guts to finally direct blame!

You are not horrible, she is behaving like your 3rd child. However, a couple of warnings or comments could have set a needed boundary.

Yup my mil is the same...doesn't help out at all but loves to make little comments that make you question yourself or if you're doing something wrong when it comes to LO. I haven't snapped at her but have just replied with a blunt no when I'm annoyed. Once we were at a picnic & the only way my LO will go to mil is if she put kids shows on her phone. LO walks away holding the phone attempting to prop it up to continue watching it. mil tells me to find something to help LO prop up the phone. I just said no...because 1 my daughter is very capable of problem solving & doing it herself and 2 mil could have got off her bum to help if she really wanted to (but she never moves to do anything) also I hate my lo watching screens when in a social situation. Mil loves to order everyone about so if I do really snap it will be due to that & her laziness.
