Feeding baby

Idk if this is a dumb question but my baby is 8 months and eating mostly purées and doing some baby led weaning. I’m wondering where I’m able to start giving him some of the food that I cook? Like should you wait until after a year because of sodium/salt content or is it okay for them to have some of your cooked meals?

You can start from 6 months offering food you eat

You can do that from 6 months lol.

I struggle giving my daughter exactly the same food because I know its not good for her kidneys to have salt and I never realised before how much salt and maybe unhealthy I eat🤣! She also had reaction to dairy so dairy free is hard! I am starting to modify meals for her and do it separately for her alongside our meals!

With slight modification for the first few months we did this from 6 months. I cut out the salt and just added that to my plate after, and then I minimised the spice too. But after the first few months he was having the same spice as us. I still minimise salt now at 14 months but I’m not as strict

I would defo give him what you are eating now so he gets used to it and hopefully doesn’t become fussy. There’s probably a handful of things I cook that my daughter eats as I didn’t do this when she started weaning 😭

You can offer what you prepare :) a good practice is to add salt sparingly while cooking and then adding more to your own portion after if needed. Definitely not a dumb question! Check out solid starts on instagram for a great resource
