Home hair dye?

Has anyone dyed their hair in the first trimester? I’ve got my hair red but it’s really annoying me in how much my roots have come in and I really just want to put a brown back over so it’s less upkeep during pregnancy🫣

Hi, yeah, I just did my normal home hair dye last week. 😊

I'm thinking the same. My hair is brown and pink, and my roots are terrible. Is it safe?

Mine is red too! I think I’m going to keep dying mine during pregnancy - I’d have to dye it back to brown anyways, so will only be one upkeep appointment now to get me through into 2nd trimester. :)

Is it safe to home dye your hair in your first trimester? This is my first pregnancy, and I don't know what i can and can't do.

Ηi! I had the same problem last week. I was dyeing my hair ginger but l wanted to avoid the commercial hair dyes due to chemicals so l bought the "Khadi" brand which is 100%plant based. If you hate the smell of matcha tea like me, you will not like it but it works! I also went back to brown colour which is closer to my natural to avoid doing it every month. BTW I dye my hair at home. I hope this helps 🙂

I asked my hairdresser she said it’s really mixed on people who say it is and isn’t safe, she said personally she wouldn’t dye my hair again till after another patch test after 12 weeks x

When I was pregnant with my first I went to get my hair done, the usual root touch up that I had been doing for years. When I told my hairdresser that I was pregnant she advised I do a patch test before as she said you can react differently to hair dye when pregnant. She put a small swab of dye behind my ear and I went home. By the time I got home my skin was stinging. I wiped the dye off and it had literally burnt the top layer of my skin off. I had a small circle of raw skin. I know it seems like a horror story and probably won’t happen to most of you but it is worth noting ladies. Patch test to be on the safe side. I didn’t dye my hair for the rest of my pregnancy. 😅x

I did my roots every 6 weeks with my first pregnancy and no issues xx

Thanks everyone, I dyed my hair at 14 weeks (from blonde to brown) with my first but hadn’t thought about it before that time but this time around it’s frustrating. I think I’m best to leave it until the second trimester! Only 4.5 weeks to go😅🤣 (Luckily I never took any reactions during pregnancy🤞🏻)
