Sterilising

Question re sterilising bottles. My HV said the reason to sterilise bottles for milk is due to bacteria in the teat.. could you therefore just sterilise the teat of a bottle in boiling water

What? I’ve never heard of that. It’s due to the film that milk can leave on the bottle where it harvests and grows all the bacteria. All of the bottle needs washed and sterilised x

@Julia it’s worrying what info is being given out from HV I have spoken to they’re crap! Just wanted to check on here

We sterilise the entire bottle/s 😊

The milk makes contact with the whole bottle, teat and lid so no this wouldnt be safe. Not sure what she is talking about tbh!

I had a HV tell me they didn’t need sterilising at all after 6 months 🙈.. I corrected her and told her 12 and she had to google in and said she was taught different. This is why I don’t take any of their advice and just do things the way I know how. As above it is about the milk not about where their mouths are going

It’s honestly scary some of the information and advice that some HV give as it can be quite dangerous and outdated x
