I have been put on antibiotics for an abscess in my tooth. They have put me on metronidazole and when I asked the pharmacist and dentist they said it’s safe to take throughput pregnancy has anyone took this before whilst pregnant?🩷

I would always ask your OB before starting a new medication. I believe antibiotics are safe during pregnancy, but I'm unsure about that exact kind. I took some for a tooth issue a few months ago but it was a different kind I dont remember :/

I dont think this one is safe but i might be wrong

I was put on metronidazole by my midwife and they were prescribed by a consultant when I was a maternity triage a few weeks back. I also took them in my first pregnancy so they should be safe.

Google it, my doctor has prescribed me something but there isn’t any proven tests that it’s safe to use during pregnancy so I am not taking it, not taking the risk unfortunately xx

Pharmacists are much more aware of what medications can/can't be used in pregnancy so if a pharmacist has told you it's ok to take then I would be happy to take it. My doctor prescribed me various different anti-sickness medications when I was pregnant and the pharmacist was always the one who picked up on whether they were safe to be taking or not/explained the risks and side effects x

I have not been on that antibiotic but I’ve now been on cephalexin 3x a day for almost 3 weeks due to a cellulitis infection on my leg that will not clear up, I’ve called my OB multiple times and she insists it’s fine and said he antibiotics won’t hurt the baby. If it’s a class B or better medication, I wouldn’t worry too much.
