Weaning abroad

We have just started weaning little one (6m old). He’s been trying foods for the past couple weeks. Travelling to Dubai in a couple of weeks. Staying at an all inclusive, will it be ok to use foods there such as eggs, steamed veg etc.. but obviously I can’t see how it’s cooked behind closed doors / if the water is clean. How do I go about this? Shall I just take pouches? Obviously don’t want to get him used to pouches but not sure what to do. Advice will be super appreciated

If you’re not there long I would wait, or take veg/fruit pouches if you really want but 6 months is just an arbitrary number really! Might make more sense to enjoy holiday stress/mess free and start day one on return. We did this with our first when we travelled at 6mo. Also caught covid out there so no way weaning would have worked 🫣

Also allergies! You do you want to accidentally introduce any allergens abroad

I’ve already started @Madeleine 😅

I would do a mix if you’re worried, take a few pouches as safe options and then offer him some finger foods depending on what they have/what you’re happy to give him. I took my 8mo, who was a little further into weaning, but I took a few baby snacks and then just fed him with what they had there.

We went to turkey at 7 months and made sure that we’d introduced all the allergens in advance of our trip and then just fed him from the buffets. We did complete BLW so no purées/ pouches other than yoghurt which I did take some of our own so I had something ‘safe’ X

Ahhhh somehow missed that 🤦‍♀️…in that case like Yasmin and Chloe said maybe!

We took our baby on holiday a week into weaning and I didn’t want to mess up the routine. gave her small amounts of foods that were not common allergens. Soft fruits, yoghurts, bread. We avoided eggs even though she had tried them before as they can sometimes make even adults sick if not cooked and stored properly and may have had salt added in.
