earlier elective

has anyone had an elective csection earlier than 39 weeks? what were the reasons for this? my baby is measuring 8lb 1oz with a head measuring at 41w at only 36 weeks! alongside this, i have GD and my sugars have started spiking & im just all round struggling! however they will not do the csection until 3 days before my EDD 😖

I had an elective section at 38+1 with my daughter, I had GD and she was measuring big... She was born 10lb 3 x

@Jen i have GD too and baby is measuring big but they still won’t bring it forward! i’m so frustrated xx

Tell them it's stressing you out and cry if need be... Its what I did as I told them I was in pain and wasn't wanting to eat as whatever I was eating was spiking my sugars which isn't heathly for the baby but it's getting me depressed And it's not what I want or need before having a baby xx

37+6 previous had part of my womb removed, so I was at risk of rupture if i laboured. Also a short cervix and a baby measuring in 90 percentile. She was 7.7 in the end, but I had already started to dilate 6 days earlier too.

Also had GD

@Jen i literally broke down in front of my consultant & she just stared at me blankly lol! but i will try again 🤞 xx

@Adele thank you for sharing! xx

Yeah just keep trying, it's hard it really is... Obviously it's better for the baby to stay in aslong as possible. But it does get soooo stressful and another reason I said 2 was enough for me and hit sterilised 😂 x

37+6 when I had my son. I didn't choose it, it was the only date available (it was a busy tjme, hes a summer baby). He was head up and wouldn't turn, we tried to turn him. He was born 7 lbs 5 oz. It's strange they won't do your early, especially with the size and your GD acting up. Keep pushing them, like Jen said cry if you have to, it may help sway them.

I had one at 36+6 as my baby was measuring small and my placenta wasn’t working as well at it should have been

@Jen honestly this is my second and my last🤣

🤣 🤣 🤣 Honestly don't blame you! X

If you ever need someone to talk to you can message me if you want x

@Kai thank you for replying lovely it is really strange but i’m seeing another consultant monday will try my luck and see what they say x

@Jen thank you!! same for you x

Following need advice as well

🤔 That maybe abit hard when you are incognito 😂 x

@Jen oh yeah🤣🤣🤣

37+3 for me. Low lying placenta. It moved all of 1mm during my pregnancy, and that, plus my age (43), meant I had to avoid going into natural labour. We had already decided on an elective anyway, but this pushed it to be sooner than expected.

I had mine 36+6 due to preeclampsia! I was meant to have one at 39 weeks due to high blood pressure but it turned into preeclampsia x

had my first at 39+4 and having my second next month at 38+5, i’ve explained with a toddler and my sciatica and pelvic pain i’m physically unable sometimes to be a mum to my toddler and they compromised in 38th week but nearer 39

@Georgina similar to me, i have an almost 3 year old and i honestly cry most days as i feel like im failing as a mum as i physically can’t do things!

I've had 2 elective c sections one at 37+6 and one at 38 weeks. My first born was 9lb6.5oz and second was 9lb3 but my second was estimated to be bigger than my first. I also had GD in both pregnancies

@Katie i also have GD (2nd GD pregnancy) & this baby is measuring at 41 weeks and they still won’t bring it forward! my sugars are all over the place too x

I don't understand why they won't bring it forward. Baby is only at risk if they made you have baby before 38 weeks. I was told my second born can't be born before 38 weeks otherwise would of ended in NICU

I had one at 37 +3. I had GD, and my baby was measuring small, had restricted movements, and so was told I was going to be induced. (I was 36+6 when they started the induction) Halfway through being induced, I decided it wasn't for me and so requested a c-section. They were pushing me to continue with the induction but after 3 presseries and only being 1cm dilated I didn't feel baby was ready, so I refused to continue with it. With the movements being restricted, I felt it was safer to get my baby out as quickly as possible. (1 week earlier the consultsnt told me baby was safer out than in which is why I was brought in to be induced) They wouldn't class it as a emergency csection instead were calling it a semi elective lol...

Type 1 diabetic and had my little boy at 37+3. I'd say try and hold out personally....especially with c-sections. I have my own story and reasons but better for baby to have as long as possible x

I had an elective at 37 + 1, I went in to triage with really bad pelvic girdle pain and they offered to do me the c-section the next day, You can always go into triage and ask they always do it if you’re about 37

Yes at 36 weeks due to twin pregnancy x

36+1, Tachycardia for 2+hrs for both of us and an estimated amniotic fluid infection - 5lbs 15oz. I have autoimmune disorders, HEDS and a heart condition 😅

I had my son at 38 weeks. I was high risk pregnancy and they didn't want to leave me longer due to risk of me going into natural labour.

Was booked for 39 weeks with baby 1 but she came at 38 weeks, 10 days early. Baby 2 booked in for 38+2, no chances being taken especially as it’s Xmas and NY.

Can you speak to your midwife and ask to be seen by a different consultant? One with a heart. She/he sounds stone cold, and is not listening to your wants and needs. Good luck mama x

They fitted me with a libra today 35 weeks baby measuring spot on but bump is well over 40 weeks they won't take me in until 39 weeks sugars all over the place

🙋‍♀️ first baby, diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks, put on insulin and metformin immediately. Baby was measuring approx 8lb at 35+3 scan, morning fasting levels were always high! Wanted section anyway but all this combined I had her at 37+1 via elective section back in March. They were concerned with her size and the placenta failing due to the medication
