I do not like my OB!

Did anyone else have a poor experience with their ob? I went in yesterday for my first ultrasound and my baby is measuring behind their gestational age. My first baby was always right on track so this was a shock to me, but they brushed past it and said “since it’s measured within 5 days of the GA its okay and were not changing your due date.” Well I’m sure they’re right and my baby is completely fine, but I wish they would have spent more than 3 seconds addressing it, explaining reasons why the growth could be behind (am I not eating enough calories or did I just ovulate later in my cycle?). Im already struggling to eat enough as is while still nursing a sick/teething toddler, so im sensitive to the fact that I might be harming my baby somehow! Then they made me wait 40 minutes for the doctor, who spent maybe 3 minutes in the room with me and brushed off my concerns about my prenatal that gave me full body burning red splotches on 3 separate occasions. When I brought up that I had issues with it she didn’t even let me finish my sentence, she cut me off with a “it made you nauseous.” NO! I looked like I had spent the whole day at the lake within 45 min of taking it!!! So now idk what to do. I don’t want to go back to someone who doesn’t make me feel heard and treats me like an inconvenience and not a patient. I guess its back to the drawing board trying to find a new one

Ugh that's so frustrating. One of our big hospital systems has a midwife group that I have my first non-fertility clinic appointment with, I'm hopeful that's the best of both worlds. Good luck on your search to find the one!

I'm sorry Emily, that is so frustrating! I would definitely try to find a new provider if that is an option! Or are you able to bring someone who can advocate for you? My husband drove my OB crazy during my first pregnancy, but we never left feeling like our questions were unanswered. 😂

@Carin unfortunately this OB only operates during traditional 9-5 hours and not at all during the weekend, so my husband would never be able to attend if I continue with them. He came to every appointment the first time around!

That’s so frustrating! I know it’s hard finding a new OB but with any doctor you want to find one that you get along with and that you feel like you can trust!
