Must Have Ingredients

As I’m getting more into BLW, I find it a bit difficult to convert our suppers to be okay for her. What are your must have ingredients that allow you to whip up multiple meals?

what about your meals do you find to not be okay for her?

@Sarah the types of seasonings and ingredients. She is almost 7 months. We use onions in everything for example and I always forget to set safe stuff aside from her whenever I cook so that’s why I’m asking if there’s any staples in others house to make baby safe meals.

Babies can have onions! It’s really the salt/sugar you have to watch and no honey. Babies don’t need bland food. Just salt or season (soy sauce/whatever else might have high sodium content) your own food after if you think it needs it. I found even a little spice was okay for my baby. In other countries with heavy spice, most babies eat that from the start! Hope that helps

Agree with DMS! You can show your baby the seasoning (and ingredients!) you enjoy cooking with. You definitely don’t need to whip up multiple meals. Coming up with one meal is tough enough! 😅

oh yeah onion is totally fine! as long as it's size appropriate and you've already checked for reactions to the big allergens then honestly you could give baby your own food and it would be just fine.

Seasoning is absolutely fine. All you need to do is just use reduced salt like stock cubes and if you’re adding things with salt in then don’t add anymore salt in. And it’s also the sugar you need to watch and no honey before they are 1☺️ If you look at baby pouches they have different seasoning from about 7/8 months old so it’s absolutely fine x

Onions and seasoning is fine. I let baby have things even if there’s a small amount of sugar or salt. Only thing I avoid is alcohol and honey. My go tos: chunks of fruit (we’re doing a lot of banana and melon right now). Shredded meat. Soft potato or sweet potato chunks. Avocado. Tiny pieces of any soft vegetable. Cheerios or pieces of bread when I need to give her something quick while I’m preparing the rest of the meal.
