IVF dates

Probably very slim. I had an appointment yesterday and they said with Christmas holidays we will be looking at January. Have my medication appointment 20/12/24. Whether it’s different with being private.

Probably not, you’ll probably start with testing and labs for you and your partner. Those results usually take two weeks.

It will ultimately come down to when your cycle is. At our clinic we were able to start on my next period. Will they be using Norethisterone before stims do you know?

If you already have your test results back, you might be able to do retrieval next cycle but the transfer probably not this year it takes a while unless you’re doing a fresh transfer of course

I would say it won’t happen until the new year. I’m doing a frozen transfer and after my consultation, my current cycle day 1 triggered the paperwork and nurse appointments to have my transfer on my Nov cycle. I am doing a natural cycle so I’m not even taking any meds. Doing a full stims cycle you’ll be getting all the paperwork done and then ordering the meds too, to start in the new year just because they shut down over Xmas so won’t be available to do scans, retrievals or transfers. But that means you can have a relaxed Xmas and then just start afresh in the new year.

Each clinic is different and have different protocols to do so you could do it all this year or you might have to wait till next year and depending on if you are using your own eggs and sperm or someone else’s

I disagree with some of the comments - it totally depends on your clinic. My clinic could start me as soon as I wanted (my doctor doesn’t wait for cycle day one as we knew we would do a frozen transfer, he only waited for my antral follicule count to look good and we started at random in my cycle). That was just 2 weeks after we had our IVF appointment. And we could have done earlier. My clinic uses a pharmacy that delivers all my meds within 24h so that wasn’t causing any delays. If I need any meds same day, they just give it to me from the clinic stock while I wait for the rest to be delivered. We also did all the paperwork on docusign (that didn’t require a separate appointment) so that could be done that same evening. So theoretically you could start right after your appointment if your clinic has the capacity.

Thank you everyone! Have no idea what protocols they will use if it will be natural or medicated, Fresh or frozen! It’s all an alien world to me atm. I have no diagnosis both me and my husband have normal test results so no idea what the best path will end up being.

My advice would be to read and watch videos to understand the IVF process before you jump into it. That way you can ask questions, know what to expect and be active in your treatment. I recommend BFN podcast and book. Then there are also a couple IVF doctors that have YouTube channels which are super helpful xx

@Annia been listening to that religiously 😂 and I’ve watched so many YouTube videos it’s so hard because a lot of them have issues they know about, and I’m struggling with secondary infertility which there seems to be very little info about

I started a cycle on 11th November last year and had an embryo transfer on the 29th November so possible if your cycle plays ball and all your ducks are in a row ready to go x

@Dee unfortunately my appt got moved to the 19th November, which is in the middle of my cycle so don’t think it will happen this side of Xmas but thanks for your reply x
