@Chelsea that makes me feel a lot more reassured! thank you so much. iām unable to have salt baths because we only have a walk in shower :( x also, i did have an infection at the 1 week mark which i got antibiotics for and all seems good now! xx i also wasnāt taking painkillers the last two days as i ran out and i think that made a HUUUUGE difference in how i was feeling down there, iāve got them again now and defo staying on top!
@Anisha ā” no worries! I found I felt like I wasnāt healing for ages and then it all of a sudden healed and felt fine! Iām 8 months pp now and I find the scar aches sometimes especially if I have been in a squatting position! Have you tried using after birth spray? I think I had the expert midwife sprits for bits which I found helped soothe it a lot āŗļø xx
I had a second degree tear as well and at my 6w pp visit I still had stitches that did not dissolve and had to be pulled out. From there my doc said to give it another 6w to be healed completely.
I had an extended episiotomy and it took me much longer than 4 weeks to heal. I used a donut pillow for several months and had to take it everywhere I went. I remember in the first few weeks pp, I went to a medical appt and in my attempt to get comfortable, I popped the stitches. When I got it checked out by my GP, she confirmed. Plus I had developed a minor infection in the area. So I had antibiotics (2x rounds). I would definitely recommend getting a donut pillow (if youāre not using it already) and if youāre still breastfeeding sitting down, there are safe ways to breastfeed laying down. If itās sore or uncomfortable pls donāt push through it. Itās not meant to be painful for this long. It may also be worth seeing your GP /doctor to make sure everythingās ok downstairs. If they say the woundās healed but itās still sensitive, it may be worth getting it checked for granulated tissue - where your inner tissue comes thru the open wound and the wound heals around the tissue.
I had two tears: one vaginal, one labial, both requiring two stitches each. Mine took just over 6 weeks to heal.
Hey I was the same it was around 6/7 weeks before I started feeling āhealedā Iām 9 weeks pp and still canāt move too quickly from the bed without feeling some sort of pressure/ pain. I second the baths and spritz for bits was my go to after having himš¤š¤ I was also the same and didnāt really rest and I regret it so much now
An episiotomy takes time to heal, 4 weeks is still very early. mine didnāt fully heal for months. The recovery is brutal and I there were times I couldnt sit down, the first week I couldnāt even walk properly. Iām now 8 months PP and even now it can feel tender. It just takes time lovely x
I didnāt dilate all the way so I tore really badly, I didnāt heal completely until about 10 weeks postpartum. Itās different for everyoneās body, I also couldnāt sit up or walk for the first 2 weeks and had to have multiple emergency OBGYN postpartum appointments
Took me 6 months to feel organs go up in right place, I thought I had prolapse but my gynaecologist said I needed rest. I made sure I slept on my back n rested for first 3 weeks this time around, this time I am able to sit well. I did have grade one tear which didnāt need stitching, slowly recovering still but m 4 month pp. it gets better, try not to strain yourself by moving too quickly. Also donāt b afraid to take paracetamol if youāre in pain. First time around I had internal stitches down there than outer layer

I also had an episiotomy and it wasnāt until around 6 weeks that I started to feel healed! I started having Epsom salt baths that I think helped a lot with the stitches āŗļø keep on top of paracetamol and ibuprofen and youāll soon be healed! Just make sure to check for any signs of infection āŗļø
