Gestational Diabetes Test😩

i went for mine a couple of weeks ago. it was fine, you answer a few questions then go into a room, have 6 minutes to drink the sugary drink (it wasn’t the best but it’s a lot better then people make out) they then take your bloods and it’s just a waiting game of 2 hours. i took my head phones and watched some series while i was there otherwise you’ll be so bored, when the timer goes off you go for your second lot of bloods and then go home! defo take soemthing to eat straight after as you have to fast for the test and take some water for while your waiting! other than that i found it absolutely fine, just boring! xx

I went for mine on Monday just gone and I lasted 10 minutes of taking 5 sips of the drink. Imagine it like a very strong calpol flavoured drink but it’s very sugary. I’ve only ever drank water since a baby so I was useless but if you’re used to drinking sugary drinks then you’ll be fine x

I did it last week. I was so scared because of all the mixed reviews but it was alright honestly. They confirmed I had been fasting and for how long then checked me in. Taking the bloods hurt a bit but I think that was the nurse cause I usually don't feel much. I had to take the drink within 10min and it was not as bad as everyone made it seem. Didn't feel nauseous or anything. You can't leave the ward so my partner and I were just talking for the 2h and then I did the second test and went for lunch x

My husband came with me, but they refused to allow him to with me ( no one mentioned this to me and I was annoyed) They gave me raspberry one and I said I should drink it in five minutes. But first they took blood test. I wasn’t allow to leave the hospital. You can sip some water. The drink was basically a syrup, sooo sweet and I felt a bit sick for the first ten minutes. Then I was okay and waiting 2hrs. Took my blood again and I was free to go home. I did notice that I was extremely tired on that day.

I had mine today honestly I was so worried but it’s not as bad as I thought. You just get your bloods taken and then you have 15mins to drink the sugary glucose drink, I had the raspberry one and honestly it just tasted like calpol to me. then you wait for 2 hours so they can take your bloods again. I was fine for the first hour and half but then I started feeling quite nauseous. Assuming it was because you have to fast so I hadn’t eaten anything so felt a bit dizzy but everyone else there’s seemed to be fine. I just kept sipping water and before I knew it, it was time to take my bloods again and I was free to go x. The drink is fairly nice just very sweet x. Only problem is it’s quite warm on the ward and you aren’t allowed to leave the ward until the test is over x

It’s not as bad as people say, just a sugary thick drink. I was in and out two hours on the dot. They don’t tell you but you have to fast from food but can water up until your first blood test so don’t dehydrate yourself the day of! Good luck x

Mine was a few weeks ago, I had a set of bloods, went with my partner and we sat around reading books and chatting, I had the orange flavoured drink and had 10 mins to drink it. It was like a very thick capri sun and the aftertaste was the only gross bit, I was allowed a sip of water whilst waiting and then went back and had repeat bloods at two hours and then went home. The worst bit was being fasted from 10pm until after my test cause my appetite is huge at the moment haha

Nothing to worry about! I had mine yesterday only slight gripe was the drink was warm but other than that no issues just felt sick but I’m pregnant with twins so they were doing summersaults in my stomach after the drink😅 Take your headphones with you and watch a tv series, you just get abit sleepy that’s all x
