Am I crazy?

My ex has had a gf since I found out I was pregnant. I just found out because our two year old told me she didn’t like her and I started asking questions. But she has bathed her and spanked her and I was so angry that it’s been a secret this whole time. Dad says I’m crazy for being upset and that he knew I’d react which is why he kept it from me? What is the best way to gracefully handle this?

You can’t change it. Ask that he keep you informed of big changes like this going forward, and reiterate the boundaries and expectations you have for co parenting

It’s illegal for another person to spank your child. She is a gf… not a stepmother, or guardian. I am against spankings personally but it’s not illegal in the states if it’s by a legal guardian😬

You could either forgive and move on… or get a police report…get fully custody ect

First off she should not be hitting your child your child is only 2 years old that would piss me the fuck off but second set boundaries tbh your partner should have addressed this to you as it involves both of yall child and it already started off bad I wouldn’t allow my child to go somewhere where she’s getting spanked by a stranger he should have got everything squared away in the beginning so it wouldn’t be a problem you know ….. I was in the same boat with my EX and then he didn’t even stay with that girl he eventually found someone else and me and her met from start and we hit it off now coparenting is the BEST !!!!!!! Goodluck

Someone hit your child, and you are "crazy" for being upset? No no, NO!!! 🚫 Of course you are upset! (I am upset just reading it!) They hid it from you because it is wrong. You don't care who your ex is into, you care if your child is safe. Call your ex and tell him spanking is not acceptable for your child from him or anyone else. Offer to trade or take over the custody time if he is at work and cannot provide adequate care (and this woman is not adequate care). If you can't resolve this through communication, it's time to go back to court. Let your child know it's important to tell Mommy if anyone hits/spanks you. Check them for marks and bruises when they return from dad's house. Take pictures and write down your child's description of events any time you find evidence. Look up child services reporting guidelines for your state so you are ready if/when the time comes. I am a stepmom and have never and would never have bathed or spanked my stepkids, even at a young age. Forget grace, keep your kid safe.

He should let you know if she is spending time with ur kid. I would be honest and up front and ask. If it involves ur child u have a right to ask. I would want to know who is spending time with my kid

Yeh.. she certainly shouldn't be hitting your child... and not bathing your child if you're not comfortable with it... certainly not if her dad hasn't even introduced you. That's just weird. I'd put my foot down firmly on the hitting - tell him if you hear from your daughter that she has hit her again, then you will report it to the police. The bathing I would tell him you're uncomfortable as she is a stranger to you.

No one should hit your child. Or any child. Ever. (IMO) I live in scotland and its illegal to spank children here regardless of wheather it is seen as "reasonable punishment" or not. I would never raise a hand to my kids. If somone else did it would be an instant police matter. No argument.
