Purées / food

How often are we supposed to give purées/ food once introduced? I make my own purées and send a little to daycare. Right now it’s once a day for us and sometimes I will give him something small in the evenings but not always. Not sure how often I should be giving him food. He is breastfed if it matters

I give my 6 months old baby food twice a day . One for breakfast and one for dinner. I also introduced water . About 2 ounces.❤️

i give my 6 month old purees twice a day as well. it says in our doc’s note that 2-3x a day is acceptable.

it also says to offer 4 oz of water a day but only when theyre thirsty.

I'm only doing food 1x a day right now. Except on weekends we do 2x. Every time my husband and I sit down to eat together we always give our little one some food as well. At 8 months we'll move to 2x a day. At 10 months we will start doing foods 3x a day. At 11m I plan to add a snack; and at 12 months we'll add a second snack. I'm doing a mixture of BLW and making my own purees. 😊 I'm also EBF, and I'm offering a MAX of like 2oz of water. He's probably drinking a lot less than that though considering most of it ends up on his clothes. 😅

We just had our 6 month check up. Her doctor said start feeding her baby food once a day. And no water. If she's thirsty give her formula, which I thought was interesting. I might feed her twice on the weekends, but we'll start out slow.

My doctor said at 6 months they usually stick with once a day so most of their nutrition and calories are still coming from breastmilk but my baby is in the 1 percentile so he upped us to 4 ounces of purees twice a day. No water until he gets his weight up.

@Nina they told me 2oz lol. My babies don’t like the water . But I still try to give them some.

What type of water are you giving? Distilled? Spring? Tap? I thought water wasn’t introduced until 12m. We don’t have our 6m visit until the 28th

I boil tap water to make sure it’s completely clean then I let it cool off and give them about 2 ounces. They don’t like it very much. But their pediatrician says it’s great to start now and they’ll start to like it later on down the road.!

I've been using distilled baby water. My little guy REALLY likes it, but we are only doing tiny sips for now.

@Lizeth what is the difference between regular distilled water and baby distilled water?

I don't think there's a difference. It was just on sale when I bought it. 😅

@Lizeth okay lol

We started purees per our Doctors advice a 4 months 1 x a day at about 5.5 months we were twice a day. He has started to open his mouth when we eat if he is hungry. The doctor told me that this was a sign he may be ready for three puree meals a day. Every baby is different. I make my own purees for him and keep them in 4 oz jars. He absolutely loves to eat when we do.
