Birth Control

I don't have much luck with birth control. ~ The implant made me bleed constantly and made me suicidal. ~ I'm allergic to the patch. ~ I can't use the ring or coil. ~ Injection made me bleed constantly. ~ Currently on the mini pill and again, bleeding constantly and very heavy. The only one I've not yet tried is the combined pill but is there much point? Or is there any point trying a previous one again to see if it's the same?

How long did you use the shot? I did and it made me bleed the first few months straight too, but then I didn’t have anything after the fourth shot. Which has been nice! Lol

@Anna Around a year, maybe a little less. I've given them all at least 6 months, usually longer to settle, apart from the patch as had the reaction to that 😂 I'm still gonna take the mini pill at the moment as it hasn't been 6 months yet but the bleeding has just been constant and I doubt it'll change.

I did the rhythm method which worked for about 16 months. You have to have fairly regular and predictable periods tho and check for signs of ovulation. It failed because one week I ovulated 5 days earlier than usual 😅

Im the same, nothing agrees with me. I got migraines with the combi pill. Mini pill makes me want to not be alive. The implant made me bleed constantly for a year both times I tried. I didn't like the patch, kept forgetting to change it and I never stuck well. I don't want injections either because they're irreversible if they don't agree and they're short term as they're awful for your bones! They're not supposed to be a long term thing. They keep wanting me to get the hormonal coil but I'm apprehensive. Honestly I'd say if you can do the natural way & condoms just do that, it's a job in itself to keep track of everything but it saves all the horrible side effects. It's just anxiety inducing that you could get pregnant with a slip up.

I've been on the combined pill for 11 years, there are several ones so if one doesn't suit you can try a different one. I've tried a few of them. My first made me manicly depressed, the second gave me 24/7 cramps every single day till i stopped it, my 3rd just killed my sex drive and is the longest one I've been on because aside from that it was actually alright. My last one was similar for sex drive but when I did take a break from my pill oh boy the period where not fun! Contractions on the drip wasn't as bad as those periods. So I'd say it's worth trying because I litrally have had 1 period a year for at least 8 years until I came off of it to try and get pregnant, before that I did 3 months back to back zero spotting and zero accidental pregnancies

I feel similarly, I take the mini pill because my periods were heavy and irregular without it (but I was finishing breastfeeding at the time so that could be why). I think it has helped, but it's also now my periods are still super irregular and sometimes heavy and always painful. When I was taking the combined pill I got irregular bleeding and I went to the doctors and they did a speculum and found cervical ectropian, which they arranged an appointment for me to return to have it lasered off, but I stopped taking the combined pill and it went away. I strangely had a friend who had that exact same experience about six months later. I had another friend who got a blood clot which doctors said could be linked to the pill she was taking, and her body rejected the coil twice and it was literally like giving birth. I get migraines now so I can't go back on the combi, injection, or implant, and i find the coil scary. I just think they're all crap and more money and research should go into women's healthcare.

Do you have fibroids? I bleed for 3 weeks and throw clots every month but I have a uterine fibroid and they claim that’s to blame

@Victoria I'd love to do something like this but I 100% know I'd end up pregnant 😂

@Katie It's annoying isn't it 🫠 I'm hoping the bleeding stops soon but I doubt it will, I know I'd definitely get pregnant if I tried doing the natural way and not ready for that just yet 😂

@Christina🤱🏼🍂☕️♈️ Not that I know of but not sure if that's ever been checked 😅

Can you just use condoms ?? It sounds like any other option you will be suffering. I had the implant and had it removed as I was bleeding constantly too, My partner just wears a condom now ! Or we pull out. Also I track my period so I know when I ovulate and what days we need to be very careful X

@Alex mine was found when I had my 8wk ultrasound when pregnant. They monitored it postpartum and I did a follow up recently to check it. It’s annoying asf

omg i had the same issue with the minipill! i had also only been using it for a few days & it was like niagara falls so 3 days later i said fuck it & stopped. i was planning to go back to the regular combined pill but im trying to work on breastfeeding again so probably will hold off but when i’m ready thats what i plan on going back on. i wish i could do the natural method but my periods were never regular

Hated them all myself. Tried the pill and the patch and they made me go crazy. Had the coil and got pregnant. For years after that I just used condoms until I met my husband and then we did withdrawal method and it worked for us for 18 months until we started trying for a baby. I’m not sure what we will do after baby comes though because I know cycles will be off and I’ll be extra fertile😳

Rhythm method combo with condom or abstinence lol but just know it’s just a delay. Most likely u will eventually get pregnant doing this. It’s usually good for at least a year, depending 🤷🏽‍♀️
