Hand, Foot and Mouth survival tips?

For those who have experienced it before, do you have any tips on helping baby through HFMD? We have been giving Calpol and small bottles of milk/sips of water. He will not breastfeed or eat much solids as it causes him too much pain. We have managed to feed him a tiny amount of plain yoghurt and a bit of soft Weetabix, but he is upset by puréed fruit, veg or soup. Are there any foods that are good (I’m assuming non-acidic and incredibly soft because or ulcers)? Or tips to make him feel more comfortable?

I wouldn't worry too much about food during this time. My little boy would only eat a bit of yoghurt and when he didn't want that I gave him extra bottles (formula). I put his water bottle in the fridge and gave him small sips throughout the day. However, if he really isn't taking milk or water then I'd contact your GP or hv to see if they have anything to help. Just watch for if you arent getting wet nappies. How long has he had it for? X

Thank you. He’s not drinking much milk either so we’re going to carefully monitor his wet nappies. He’s only on day 2, that we know of, as he had a raging temperature and nasty rash appear around his mouth yesterday. He seems to be really itchy which means he’s not sleeping

Ok, so my son had a fever for 2-3 days so you're coming out of the worst part. The rash started to come out and then clear up pretty quick after that so it's usually short lived. The virasoothe gel from amazon, Boots etc helped our little one with his rash x
