Debating on therapy

Long story short, I’ve had it on my mind heavy lately to get my 10yr old (and myself) into therapy. We’ve been through some things nobody else in the family will ever understand. Even though he was younger, he still remembers a lot and I think it’s all surfacing in another way. He just doesn’t seem himself..He’s extremely quiet lately. When I try to have just a regular conversation with him, he will just stare at me like he doesn’t know what to say in response. Theres just several things I’m picking up on and it’s kind of worrying me a bit. I want my children to be happy in life and never feel like they can’t talk to me, even a simple conversation ya know…should i seek therapy or are there other options?

I Say therapy is great. If you find a good one, interview them first and talk about tactics they use not DBT whatever but to they go play basketball and talk or watch YouTube hamster videos and talk or work on crafts or just talk. Find one who can work with an interest your son has, it might take time to build a relationship but the improvement can be amazing.

Absolutely! I hope you find a good therapist fit for you both.
