Baby weight

What are your little ones weighing at? My 9+3 week old is only weighing at 10’2 on the 9th percentile. HV said to feed him more… like I’ve not tried that or to delay his feed so he drinks more… like I’d do that to him. He only occasionally feeds 4oz and no matter what I do I can’t get him to feed anymore as he spits it up 🥹

If he’s tracking on the 9th at each visit and not dropping a lot then you don’t need to worry

My little girl is 6 + 3 and weighs 10lbs 2. She was born on 9th centile at 5.12 she feeds 4-5oz and has between 6-7 bottles in a 24 hour period x

@Naz that’s what i thought but they said he’s underweight for his length x

@Morgan I wish he would drink they much 🙈

Mine is drinking 4oz every 4 hours.. every time I try to up his feeds to 5ozs he is alright a couple of feeds and brings it all up the next

Mine is between the 2nd and 9th centiles for weight but above the 25th centile for height. Both my husband and I are tall and thin (he’s 6’6” and I’m 5’9”) so it kind of makes sense, but honestly the reason they haven’t been worried at all is that she’s still following her curve just fine. 6lb2oz at birth, lost like 7% down to 5lb 11 I think, then up following her curve perfectly since then. All babies are different just like adults, the centiles and averages are just a baseline

@Kellie it’s a long process for her to drink this much. It takes 25-45 minutes each time. I wind her three times throughout and give her little breaks and she starts feeding again. But every baby is different! I also think because I was told I had to feed every 2 hours as a newborn (because she was small) she’s used to lots of feeds x

Oh they sure are all different, I know that. I just feel shit when the HV says I need to feed him more when I’m forever trying 🙈 My husband is all and slim, I’m short but petite… well before pregnancy 🤣

My LO is 9 weeks and he’s around 11.5

Question does baby use a dummy ? I know Uve probably heard it already if so x

@Shar not really. He will occasionally use it at night but we can go days without it. He often spits it out x

Your HV is giving harmful advice. Delaying his feed to drink more will signal to your brain to produce less milk. The best thing to do is feed responsively and if he seems content and has full nappies and is tracking on the same curve then I doubt there’s cause for concern! Babies are all different sizes just like adults.

@Naz you’re totally right and I’d advise the same thing but it’s different when it’s your own 🙈
