Baby rice

My son has been prescribed cows protine free formula. It’s very thin and I’m not sure if he is full as since being on it he is miserable. Is adding baby rice to one or two feeds ok? He is 6 months old. Has anyone else experienced this, it’s been exhausting as I’ve tried every formula and he gets mucus diarrhoea and has had blood in stools. However even though he had them symptoms he was more settled.

If he’s 6 months are you considering general weaning? Make up some veggie/fruit purées I think you should also speak to GP/ Health visitor if he’s having all those symptoms (if you haven’t already)

@Victoria thank you. I’ve explained his symptoms and suspected milk allergy. But this milk is so thin he just has reflux and comes bk up.

No don't add baby rice to the formula. You can get thickener especially for this on prescription so go back to the GP

From my experience hypoallergenic formula doesn’t taste very nice so could explain why your baby isn’t enjoying it. I wouldn’t add baby rice as nutritionally will not help baby gain weight. I would speak to whoever prescribed the milk and ask if you can add some vanilla essence for taste. I’d also look at introducing solids now your baby is 6 months. This guide may help you - but contact your local children’s centre and take a look at any introduction to solids workshops. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/59f75004f09ca48694070f3b/t/6399bc0f662238394803e28d/1671019543599/Eating+well+the+first+year+enlivened+for+web+14+Dec.pdf
