Help

My little one is exactly the same! He turned 7 months last week. It’s so frustrating as I was looking forward to weaning so much and put quite a bit of effort into making his food. I find he’s better with finger foods where he feeds himself. He literally clamps his mouth shut when I try to put a spoon to his mouth 😂😫 I’m just being persistent with it and hoping he’ll start to enjoy it more soon ☹️

@Abbey it’s so upsetting I just don’t know why I’ve tried so many different things too, I’m scared to try finger foods what are you doing ?

my daughter is like this with certain foods, if it smells bad she'll refuse ANYTHING given to her.

My son was the same at 6 months he seemed ready and interested in food. I was so excited to start him on solids and then I just couldn't get him to even open his mouth no matter what. My health visitor suggested taking a week break, making sure to eat in front of him all the time, and then try again. A week later I tried again with yogurt and he still wasn't interested, then later that same day I was eating an apple with him sitting on my lap and he badly wanted my apple. I ended up dipping the apple in yogurt and letting him put it in his mouth so he could get a taste for it. He kept going back for more so I got a spoon and that was the first time he actually opened his mouth for the spoon. Maybe try a week break like we did, he might not be quite ready yet. With my son I still have to rub a bit onto his mouth first so he can taste it before he will open his mouth willingly, but it's only been a couple of weeks and im practically shovelling it in now. He loves yogurt 😂😂

@Abbey this is exactly my LG and me. I was telling everyone how I can’t wait to start weaning thinking she will be enjoying food… how wrong was I 😅 she also prefers finger food and shuts her mouth as soon as she sees a spoon 🫣

Same boat here 🙋🏻‍♀️ LG is 7 months and just hates ALL food expect the melty puffs. Me and my partner are a bit stressed/worried as I really can’t see her taking any food anytime soon!! I’ve tried BLW, purées, all different kinds of purées fruit, veg, porridge, baby rice etc and there’s not a single thing she’ll take! She just gags and spits it out and then refuses to open her mouth anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️
