Formula

How are people planning to move from formula to milk, also how are people dropping feeds as at the moment my baby is very still dependent on milk. He has five bottles a day which I plan to start reducing over time and hopefully only be on two bottles. Just wondered how everyone has found balancing bottles and food.

Fully aware 5 bottles still at his age isn’t ideal I already feel a bit like a silly mum for not reducing these sooner

My son is having like 6 bottles a day still and three meals he has most bottles to soothe at night when he stops wanting/ needing is when I will stop or if it's making him not eat I'm not stressing about it I'm letting him let me know 🥰 also at 12 months will just start giving odd bottles of cows milk to transition x

Thank you that’s made me feel like I’m not a bad mum and that it’s completely normal for him to still want bottles especially through the night xx

We are still on 5 bottles just dropped from 6 to 5 a few weeks back.

I just take babies lead, she dropped from 5-4 bottles in August then 4-3 this month, it was in line with eating a bit more food! When she wasnt finishing the 4 bottles I started to do food first then milk and its helped her to eat more food and drink more of the 3 bottles. Dont put yourself under pressure, they are always saying how milk is the main source of nutrition til one and then all of a sudden they are saying to drop the milk, how are you meant to win! I imagine my baby will drop to 2 bottles in another month or two, and whatever milk she is still drinking when she turns one, I will transition to cows milk oz by oz

you don’t have to feel bad bcse your baby drinks 5 bottles a day 😞..for example my baby doesn’t eat much food..he is just tasting it and we do lootss of bottles during the day and night, aprox 6.7, 8 depends 😂 i just follow his lead and not going by the book, i believe it is too much pressure about everything these days of course i will prefer him to have food w us but if he’s not ready yet and he likes his milk then so be it. you do you mama x

My boy had as many bottles as he needs could be between 3-6 a day depends on how he’s feeling! You’re not a bad mum and you just do whatever your baby needs. I’ve struggled balancing bottles and food as my boy decides he doesn’t want food sometimes and wants milk instead. When he’s around 11 month I’m going to start with one ounce of cows milk and 7 ounces formula then reduce the formula every week until it’s all cows milk. Xx

I started giving cows milk in on cereal around 8m but she's my 2nd so I'm more laid back, I know she likes the taste so once so as she's running out of formula I am going to do half and half and then fully change to full fat cows milk but 11.5 months I'd say

Thank you soo much so say at 11/12 months do I just mix the cows milk with the formula little by little sorry first time mum. I’ve literally tried more food lowered the milk he’s ate loads today he’s still needed the night bottles at a reduced measure but it’s not not the slightest difference to the night wakes xx

Clearly he just really needs the milk as comfort/actual hungry so I think I need to ignore the health visitor making me think I’m not doing what I’m supposed to xx Thank you ll so much x
