In the car with baby

Do you guys still ride on the back with your baby? My girl is almost 5mo and I still ride in the back with her, but I miss riding in the front with my husband. But at the same time I get so anxious if I can’t see her or what. Let me know your experience with that.

Because I am the primary driver in our household, I literally was the one to drive us home from the hospital. We had to stay an extra day/night because of Nyla, so I didn't have any drugs (not even ibuprofen or tylenol) in my system cause I was checked out as a patient a day before Nyla was. But! If Nyla is crying or is anxious (which is usually at night) then either one of us will sit in the back with her. On our drive back from Atlanta, I sat in the back with her the entire time and she was 6 months! I think if you got a good mirror so you could see her it would help ❤️

My son is 17 months old and I still sit in the back with him 😅it’s become a habit for me personally & I don’t want to risk it but if you feel safe & ready that is totally up to you

I ride in the back most of the time if it’s just my husband and I or if we’re going for a long drive. Short drives our older daughter sits in the back with baby usually. A mirror is a great option if you’d like to try sitting in the front some and still be able to see your daughter 🩷

I only did the first few days before I the newborn insert for the carseat (hand me down) arrived in the mail. I've bought a mirror for the headrest, though, so I can see her from the front seat.

@Stephanie Omg, my daughter is also named Nyla.

@Amanda I've literally only met 1 other person who knows someone named Nyla! That's amazing! Also, I snooped your profile and your girl was born the day before my birthday! Small world!

@Stephanie My daughter is named after her great great grandma on my side. We visited her to celebrate her 98th birthday Sept 29th

I never intentionally rode in the back with my son? Seems weird to make that decision unless baby got car sick often

@Samantha Barbara did say that she gets anxious if she doesnt see her daughter. Post Partum Anxiety and just anxiety in general can have us doing things for comfort/to minimize our own anxiety. Sitting in the back seat with baby doesnt hinder them in any way. Let's try to stick to answering the questions and not adding any micro judgements :)

@Stephanie she asked if people did that. I said no and that it was odd to me. I answered the question.

I only ride in the back if I suspect it’s going to be rough for some reason. Like if I’ll be needed to comfort etc. If they’ll be happy, I go in the front. We have one of those $5 car mirrors so we can check on the kiddos easily from the front 😊

@Samantha I also prefer to ride in front!

@Rosalie We made a road trip to Atlanta, GA (We live in Indiana) when out girl was 6 months and because of how rough the drive down was, we opted for me to sit in the back instead of my SIL, it was much smoother! We plan to do the same on our next big family vacation as a precaution!
