Cocomelon!?

What does everyone think about cocomelon? It’s very popular nowadays and nearly all kids love to watch this show. This may sound weird but recently I’ve been reading that people have mentioned how this show has done a lot of damage including speech delay etc and how addictive it is 😕 Also a YouTube channel released a video on this too Please watch https://youtu.be/G_Pn_oBcNTA?si=JOMq64ZT4c8dtOfW

I dont plan on letting my child watch it

They are doing studies on it and the negative/addictive effects it has on the brain. I wouldn’t let me kids watch at all

My 2 & a half year old used to watch it when he was a baby, but he doesn't have a speech delay 🤷‍♀️

We are a cocomelon-free household! If we go to someone else's house and it happens to be on, I don't demand it be turned off or anything but everyone knows my son does not watch that chaos **worth noting that we are by no means a screen-free home either**

it’s banned in our house

Far too over stimulating I’ve never put it on for mine and will avoid doing so.

@Rachel its not only speech delay but also causes problems with attention and over stimulation.

not to be dramatic but cocomelon makes me wanna rip my ears off and claw my eyes out

i will never show it to my kids

@Nef my little boy doesn't have an attention problem either. If anything, he has very good concentration.

My girls watched it a handful of times at other peoples houses but I don’t generally allow it. Along with Peppa. Hate em!

I I have heard lots of bad things about cocomelon. Something to do with over simulation and how it's addictive for babies.

It’s utter trash and it’s banned. There’s literally no educational value to it and multiple studies and teachers have reported it making toddlers into tantruming monsters with attention issues.

2 words brain rot my child will never watch it its literally made to abuse your child mind so they are physically forced and addicted to watching it just so the creators and make money its all colourful and stands out for a reason its not even like it genuinely teaches them anything

I worked in autism and ABA therapy for years. I would just advise you stay far away from it if you can.

Even if it didn’t cause everything being mentioned we wouldn’t watch it. It overstimulated me the 5 seconds I put it on when I was checking it out 😵‍💫

I heard one of the songs once and decided my child would not be allowed any cocomelon. Also the baby is just creepy why’s he look like that

We watch slower shows. I have avoided cocomelon like the plague

@Isabella have you noticed a pattern?

@Isabella what about Peppa Pig?

@Jane there wasn’t necessarily a pattern we saw “cause” autism or anything but there were certain shows that definitely lead to worse behavior when we had to turn them off. Cocomelon, Blippi, Super Simple Song Loops, Paw Patrol.

@Aurora I never had any kids that had a negative relationship with peppa pig. I haven’t even watched the show it wasn’t brought up enough.

@Isabella noooo not super simple 😐

@MJ_xo unfortunately 😂 it was bad. You can turn the speed on YouTube down to .5x or .7x and it may sound a little funny but it’s a lot less stimulating and is easier to get them off it.

It's banned in my house. We're a Bluey, Blues Clues, Little Bear, and Ms Rachel household. Cocomelon has had a bad rap... I know it's hard cuz it looks safe to let our little ones watch but maybe it's just not worth the risk. Ms. Rachel on YouTube helped my babygirl start speaking. 😊

My son listens to Cocomelon occasionally during the day, along with other shows. I don't see any problem with Cocomelon as my son sings along to the different styles of nursery rhymes, and as he learned how to put words together from it, too, during his day nursery, they do have Cocomelon on for the kids.

Cocomelon over stimulates me.. let alone a small child! The scenes change every few second and it’s too much

Banned in our house, put it on when little one was younger as it seemed to be all the rage, lasted about 30 seconds before I turned it back off as I personally found it overstimulating for ME, never mind for a young child 😳

Nope definitely not showing it to my boy

I only let my child watch Ms Rachel, Ms Apple, The wiggles. However, it’s been 2 months I have started reducing screen time. Instead I let my baby play around the house. She enjoy making mess like taking out washed laundry on the floor, her toys from the stored basket on the floor, play with safe kitchen tools, play with water and water toys for hours at the backyard, sometimes lay in the play ground. I don’t recommend “Cocomelon” to kids under 5 yrs.

@Isabella oh no… I thought it was comparable to Ms Rachel since it’s educational but I guess that makes sense! Going wean off…🫣 at least so far he hasn’t really fussed when I turn it off. I just tell him “all done”, “we can watch later” and he says “all done” and goes his way lol. So I guess we’re not far too gone 😂

@Isabella I used to teach students with autism too. Even if you turn the speed down the color profile is also made to have addictive properties so the behaviors probably wouldn’t change much

@MJ_xo the benefit of Ms.Rachel is how she talks directly to them. Older shows used to do it a lot too. It’s becoming more of a topic if we should study children’s shows to predict language development in children in special ed

I will not let my baby ever watch it. It's video cocaine for kids. The clips don't last any longer then 3 seconds, most being 1 to 2 seconds along with the colours. The fast scene change and high contrast colours combined together does weird stuff to the brain which just tickles the must watch it more and more bit.

Little Bear 🐻 our favorite and Franklin 🐢

My nephew got himself so worked up when cocomelon was turned off after an hour that he hyperventilated and nearly fainted. I swore that day I would never put children’s tv on for my own and I’ve stuck to that

Personally saw how addictive and crazy my nephew was when watching it. My daughter will never watch Cocomelon, it’s way too overstimulating for a baby/young child. I’m sticking to things I grew up watching. As I’ve seen a pattern of shows from the 90s early 2000s are more relaxing and non stimulating. More educational or behaviour friendly.

Nope. My kid watches Sesame Street and Dora the explorer. She watches some shows on Netflix too like gabby dollhouse

Thankyou everyone for the comments

@Raimonda 🌻 These 👏 we love little bear! Such a cute show and just stimulating enough to get our LO to sit while I cut his nails 😅
