Travelling and two winters

Hey mums my partner’s family lives in germany and one of his relatives is sick. He wants us all to fly there in December with baby. We had already considered Christmas in europe but decided not to do it this year as it would be a second winter for baby and we have had so many flus and colds in the Australian winter. My gut is telling me that this would be putting my baby through too much the flights are so long we have to travel within europe a whole lot as well. Is it selfish to not want to go for these reasons? It’s been so hard to have a sick baby through the winter and a european winter on top of the travel exhaustion and jet lag makes me feel so stressed

Do what you thinks best for your baby

We just did 4 weeks in Europe. Little guy did well but picked up a gastro virus on the way home. Personally i wouldn’t do Europe again with a 10-11 month old as I found the 3 countries we went to hardly any had changing tables (if they did they were so dirty) and jet lag is a killer. The trains, taxis and most transport in general is hard work with extra luggage, pram etc (so id pack very light) and is Everyone also kept trying to touch him and kiss his hands. 🫠 my kid was also learning to walk so hated being stuck sitting still for long times. however we did manage the entire trip and little guy loved it and I feel like it made him more flexible with sleep and going with the flow. We didn’t do winter Obviosuly but considering how much you need to pack for a baby as is you would need to be prepared. Lots of Milton antibacterial wipes for bathrooms (and especially plane) x
