Potty training advice

My lil girl is nearly 3 and I really need to get her potty trained, she has bladder and kidney issues as is so her doctor has said she needs to be out of nappies asap as shes more prone to infections whilst she’s still in them. She’s just adamant she doesn’t want to use it but I can’t keep putting it off either. I’ve got sticker reward charts to try but is there anything else I can do to help her feel comfortable with it?

Following as I’m struggling to get started with it for my almost 3yr old also. She used to like to sit on a potty or training toilet and would do so for ages at a time but wouldn’t wee or poo in it. Though recently she just doesn’t want to sit on them or have her nappy off at all so we aren’t sure how best to do it

@Leanne that’s exactly the same for my daughter, I’ve managed to get her to sit on today but only with her tablet but she still won’t do anything on it, not sure why I thought this was going to be easier than this 🙈 x

I got pirate Pete and princess polly books and said she could look at them when on the potty which she enjoyed. She also liked putting her stickers on the potty every time she sat on it. Try getting her to sit on there every 15 minutes. You could also try no nappy or trousers so she is more aware when she needs a wee. Good luck!

@Jenna Thankyou, I’ll try the books and stickers trick, she’s been sat on the potty for over half hour atm and still nothing 🙈😂 been giving her water all morning so I’m now panicking she’s holding it in 🤦‍♀️ x

Bless her! It’s good that she’s happy to sit there for so long!

I give my twin daughters chocolate button every time they went on the toilet, and it worked great.

@Jo oh 100% trying this tomorrow then cos my lil one loves choco buttons, thankyouuu x

The Gentle Potty Training book for me, and for little one Potty Superstar book.
