Chunky boy

My LO is coming up to 19months. They say you can't overfeed a baby, but I've never agreed with this. My LO has never not finished a bottle *even when I offered him 7oz of milk when he was 3 weeks old that landed us in A&E) he never leaves food, is very food orientated and begs for food when we are eating. He's never been fussy. We've come to a poi t where he wouldn't go straight to sleep at night like he always has and it was taking us 2 hours to settle him. We worked out this was due to him being hungry. I've upped his snacks and he is settling straight away again. He is now waking up crying at 4am. Again, I want to trial that this is down to hunger so want to perhaps offer him some toast am hour before he goes to bed. My issue is, he's still not walking. He's in size 2-3 years clothing and is just generally a BIG lad! I just don't want him being the 'fat kid'. I feel awful feeling like this but he genuinely doesn't know when to stop and crams food in like it's his last meal. Nursery are giving him x3 lots of lunch at 11:30am and then he has tea with them at 3:30pm so he's been going from 3:30pm to 7:30am with just 5oz milk before bed and 5oz milk at 6:30am. Please give me some advice, words of wisdom. Anyone else got a baby like this with food??

Mine is in a mix of 2-3 and 3-4 clothing. If he had a meal at 3.30pm, mine would definitely need another meal before bed or he would be waking hungry! I would give him something extra personally. But yeah, mine loves his food, and can eat surprising amounts of it too!

He definitely needs a dinner. 3:30 is far too early for a last meal of the day. Imagine if you went to bed at 10 and last ate at 5pm with no snacks at all youd go to bed hungry. We do dinner at 5:30 bed at 7 and he sleeps 12-13 hours straight no wakes at all unless he needs a sip of water which a bottle of is in his bed every night he will take a sip and go straight back down. As for his weight honestly, don't worry about him being the "fat kid" it drops off them quickly once they start moving and walking.

It sounds also like he could be over compensating for evening hunger by consuming so much in the day time so definitely add a dinner in

So we tried extra food between getting home and bed tonight and it resulted in half an hour of him screaming and crying and getting himself worked up. He didn't like or want what I offered so played with it. After 15mins of playing with his food I took it away which resulted in an absolute meltdown. I'm at a loss. He is a nightmare with food. Cries in the kitchen begs when we eat food. Nursery have even said he eats crumbs off the floor after his dinner. What have I done to make him THIS OBSESSIVE around food 🥺

It could be worth speaking to the health visitor to see if they can help out?
