Any Postpartum moms struggling with PTSD from HG?

I’d love to connect with other moms struggling with PTSD postpartum. My LO is almost a year old and i’m still struggling with eating and drinking and too much weight loss. Any advice for how y’all managed this?

yeah deffo research it, it helped with the ptsd symptoms so much

Thank you for writing this, I’ve also struggled with putting weight back on and things triggering me postpartum. To start with I tried taking one thing at a time, like the smell of my shampoo and mouth wash and just forced myself to turn the smells into a new memory. I stood there telling myself I wasn’t going to be sick, it’s over - and that has worked slowly. But I have to tackle each thing individually. There are some things that I haven’t managed to tackle yet - mostly drinks! If someone opens apple juice, a j2o or orangina around me I will be gone 😂 Maybe try some new recipes so you don’t have an association with it to start with? I find it easier with things I can identify. The other day there was a smell in the house and I didn’t know what it was, but it brought everything back and I was physically retching. My husband had to go around with febreeze before I could go inside 😬

I also still haven’t got back to my pre pregnancy weight. I’ve always struggled with putting on weight (not an eating disorder or anything, I must just have a very high metabolism). Usually that’s very handy but in this situation, very frustrating. I’m just trying not to weigh myself, keep eating meals and snacks and I’ll look at it again once I’ve stopped feeding, but that’s probably not great advice!! If anyone has any advice on how they’ve put the weight back on (healthily) that would be great!

@Charlie Great points! I have found that eating is easier when the food has more flavor because when I forced myself to eat while pregnant it was always bland stuff and water. I’m also down from pre pregnancy weight and continue to lose weight, which could be attributed to breastfeeding. Considering weaning if I continue to lose weight as i’m struggling to keep up with the calorie requirements. One day at a time I suppose!
