I guess it depends where you are located and the public vs private facilities. Even with top level private health insurance, and going through the private system, you will still end up 5k out of pocket, as you still have to pay for all of the antenatal OB visits and scans etc. I went through the SAN hospital and both my OB and the comfort/ facilities this private hospital has to offer was worth it for me.

I went private through WCH and all my obstetrics and 5 day stay in hospital was all covered. Saw Bupa covered almost 7K just for the hospital. If you don’t care about having the same obstetrician throughout go public and forgo the pregnancy cover but I did find for me personally it was a load off my mind. With Bupa my pregnancy cover was just under $200 a month. Normally I do Bupa Silver with 4 extras which worked out at approx 150 a month. If you don’t want or need extras just cut them out.

I have literally just put a query through Compare the Market to get an idea of options. We’ve never had health insurance before, but we’re in our 30s and have two babies now and anticipating some ENT procedures in the near future. I went public for both my pregnancies, and lucky to have an awesome public system in our area. I’ve also heard stories of bubs needing to go to NICU and therefore needing to be transferred from private to public. I suppose it depends on known risks and your preferences for care, and options you have in your area.

The closest hospitals to me are Joondalup and midland. Midland does have a good public system but I’m getting health insurance regardless I was just wondering if it’s worth it. Has anyone heard good things about HCF?

everything is covered in medicare x

Idk I personally have never had it and don't see the point with Medicare covering pretty much everything anyway, my husband has it and wants to add me but I really just don't see the point 🤷🏻‍♀️
