Same with me. Baby girl likes to be picked up but then fidgety with me to be put down. She does sit/lie and play but yeah, not for long

Sounds like she wants to see what is going on. Maybe take her out in the pram and sit her up a bit for short stints to take on the world around to get her fix of sight/sensory that way?

Have you tried a bouncer? My little girl loves it! My mil got us one free I think from Facebook marketplace xx

Try playing in different places, sat in the highchair, on the bed as well as in the play mat and rotate toys if my boy doesn't see something due a day or 2 is like a whole new toy. Honestly we have 2 proper play sessions a day his other wake windows 1 is watching me to chores we have a good chat and a sign song and then I try to be out and about whether it's a baby group, shop or park the more they see and take in is great. At the moment he particularly loves playing with spoons and cups so don't feel restrained but certain toys anything they can explore is fun for them too
