$1000 to check for blocked ovaries??

Ttc for a year, no luck. The doctor wanted me to do an hsg test to check for blocked ovaries, which at the time it was $1000 for an x-ray. I told him i couldn't afford it at the time. What else could we do in mealtime. So I was on clomid 50mg for a month, and it didn't work. I'm starting to feel that his suspeciousness of my ovaries being blocked might be right, and I want to get the x-ray done now, but im very scared. If my ovaries are blocked, the only way I could get pregnant is with ivf. Has anyone gone through a similar experience? Did you accept you couldn't have kids anymore, or did Ivf work?

Even if your ovaries are open, that doesn’t mean they are working properly. Did your dr tell you that? Mine did not until after my HSG test. What is your age, AMH FSH and AFC? And have you gotten your partners sperm tested already?

What could it be causing them to not be working properly if they were not to be blocked. I did a blood panel checking hormones everything came back normal. Husband also check sperm count and his results were normal. Im about to be 34 years old so could my age be a cause or it's just something going on with my ovaries I don't know about yet?

It took me and my husband about a year to conceive. I’m 35 now and this is my second pregnancy. All my tests were normal and my period was regular but I wasn’t ovulating. I did the HSG and got pregnant the second month after. The dr told me I didn’t have any blockages but for some reason, sometimes the hsg helps women have an easier time releasing an egg. So the three months after the hsg, you have a higher chance of conceiving. Good luck!

@Rachel do you mind explaining how the hsg test help you get pregnant?
