Swallowing food whole

Is it safe or normal for my 15 month old to swallow food whole?? She knows how to chew her food and she definitely gets enough food but lately she’s been swallowing almost every thing she eats whole!!! Pizza, pasta, crackers, you name it!! I’m just wondering if I should be concerned and/or take her in to her doctor or if it’s just a normal baby stage that will go away??

OH MY GOSH! My son was eating PRETZEL STICKS WHOLE yesterday and shoving like 7 in his mouth at a time! I scooped his mouth so fast lol I threw the bag at my boyfriend and was like “THESE ARE A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE NOW!” So yeah, pretzel sticks require a prescription in my household😂 I would assume it’s probably just a baby/toddler thing but it never hurts to ask your pediatrician if it’s concerning. Sometimes I think they might do it bc of teething like having that much more resistance probably feels good on their little gums. My kid will also chug any liquid you put in front of him and I mean chug, I can hear the gulps lol

@Kristy my baby also chugs everything as well!! Not as much as she used to though!!

I would just keep a close eye on her whenever she’s eating. I don’t know if it’s safe but it’s absolutely normal. My son will do the exact same thing but once he figures out that it’s too big for him to swallow he will spit it out. I try not to interfere too much as he’s still learning but it definitely gives me silent heart attacks on the dailyyyyyy. Praying for all us toddler moms out there 🙏🏼😂

Yes, my son shoves more than he can chew in his mouth and will spit it out, then proceed to try to eat it again. It’s gross but I try not to interfere too much. I try to pace out the food too.
