Weaning 🍓🍉🍌🥕🥦🌽🥑🍑🍊

If anyone has any tips or advice for weaning then please leave in the comments TIA xx Also.. my little one turned 6 months today so we tried him with some purée and he kept sticking his tongue out. He did take some of the purée and enjoyed what he had.. just wondering. Is this normal or should I wait a while and try again. I don’t want to force it xx

I’m following as I have no idea what I’m doing. 6 months tomorrow! X

It's his first taste of something other than milk so he's gonna be confused and want it out his mouth. Just try little and often. Maybe even let him play with a spoon without food. My little girl is 5 and a bit months and we let her play with spoons. We've let her play with some veg too but we're not going to do much more than that till she's months

I went to a weaning class and they sent us some helpful links afterwards https://www.henry.org.uk/startingsolids/getting-started https://www.henry.org.uk/startingsolids/follow-on-food https://static1.squarespace.com/static/59f75004f09ca48694070f3b/t/5efa3797c8ae1024ed8d6596/1593456555402/Eating_well_the_first_year_June_20_for_web.pdf Hope these are helpful

When I got her weighed before 6 months the health visitor said an ice cube size amount is all they need once a month to begin with. Start with single flavours and start with vegetables. You can do purees or from 6 months you can do BLW (this scares me so I'm not doing it yet). My baby pushed food out the first couple of times but today is say three and she was like ooo okay this interesting.

Honestly we just blend everything we eat for dinner unless it’s spicy and avoid additional salt etc, keep bottle times the same and start with one meal 30-60 mins after a bottle, and gradually increase solids. Breakfast -weetabix is great as an easy start / yoghurt and mashed fruit We do BLW at lunch time and use the solid starts app- it’s amazing for how to safely serve foods & then dinner just blend whatever haha

@Helen ice cube size once a month?? Really?!

Sounds normal my boy did this a few days now we are 2 weeks in here had 2 masks a day around 2-3 tablespoons worth and eats the lot I'm going to make bigger potions tomorrow. Now we are giving a mix he's loving it in just blending our food the last few days he's had chicken stew, salmon broccoli etc

Get one of these spoons with the holes in it. My baby is loving when I dip the purees in it and she takes it herself. I also feed with another baby spoon and she has finger sized pieces too to choose from. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silicone-Feeding-Weaning-Training-Utensils/dp/B0BQBWG45Z/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?crid=38ZIT62GFFJAE&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.mOnHMx4IWmNlq8fyIpmxD9jQ_oAqVlknUwC5mYBCEvJ0ZIgchJk6k3yUfYy6oC8IlMTDCO6Y_1Sf1OLbjKvVc3AllkCP1gvX1l-xUuRIPEHR6J2BBfORuLvAPb8sPAnZwDhBetKajaxIDqmTRk9cem3zYXWonqJd3aXu1XiIXseMoBiq6bxKm1HNQS5CuGskIcxzP6RVt4bAMuW3PUmYEw.UbVowlQuYg-DCuiwrUxeIpNrTy8shaTt9rMRetBboeo&dib_tag=se&keywords=silicone+baby+spoons+self+feeding&qid=1728843776&sprefix=silicone+baby+spoons+self%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-12

I’ve made some purée’s and put them in the freezer. I’m using 1 cube per day currently x

@Ellie I’m assuming it’s not just the standard ice cube trays? They’re quite small? Xx

Yes! I ordered a pack of 2 off of Amazon with a lid! My little girl will actually eat 1/2 spoonfuls at the mo. Obviously if your baby wants more then given them as many cubes as you would like x

Baby born 16/4. I said I’d do it on her 6 mth bday but this is now day 6!! She’s loving it. So far > Cucumber sticks Watermelon sticks Puree carrot (self fed) Brocolli florets Spinach puree Mashed sweet potato (self fed) Greek yog Boiled apple Avocado (she didn’t like this one)

Day 3 of weaning and I blend the veg to a puree then put the rest in deep ice cube trays to try later on with other future meals when she’ll combine flavours. She has one piece to grab so for example parsnip puree but I steamed a stick of it for her to grab and try. I’m currently exclusively breastfeeding until she has this meal for tea (around 3/4ish) and she’s been swallowing good amounts and having water. Think I’ll try her on a few more veg then fruit before then rushing to try meals and add more meals. I think I feel more comfortable trying individual stuff first before blitzing our meals for her just yet but go by what you’re comfortable with xx

@Ellie thankyou so much🫶🏼🫶🏼
