How bad is recovery from a vasectomy?

Basically we've decided after this baby we don't want anymore children. I can't go on birth control because it makes me a little crazy and I don't trust condoms at all, so my husband was gonna get the snip and he's more than happy to do it. Preferably I want it done as soon after I have this baby as possible, to ensure there's no risk of any accidents, but I also don't want him in lots of pain recovering whilst I'm in lots of pain postpartum. Generally he does handle pain quite well (he's top to toe covered in tattoos) but I don't know what he'd be like in regards to his nether-region. Is the recovery process quite rough?

My dad seemed fine 🤷🏽‍♀️. He iced it and the next day was back at work.

It wasn't a long recovery but he was definitely in pain the first day or two and he couldn't lift our kids. I personally wouldn't do it like immediately after giving birth but maybe once you're feeling better/back to normal

Following bc my man will also be going for a vasectomy after this baby 💁‍♀️

It was a day or two of not being able to lift the kiddo and being in pain needing iced and he has some residual swelling that caused him discomfort for a week or two but it was relatively minor in the long run and he was glad he did it as birth control is rough on my system as well.

I’m surprised your men will get it and not tell you to get your tubes tied ! Y’all found good ones that will probably be with you for life 🥲🥲🥲

My husband was completely fine. He got done with it around 2pm. Sat on the couch the rest of the day with ice on him. Then the next day he just worked from home, then back the following day. I think we even had sex like 6 days post procedure 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

@Jenna I got my tubes tied too, during my last c-section. We are taking no chances 😅. But yes, he is a good one

Thanks for the advice everyone! We'll probably get it sorted after I'm a few weeks postpartum and I'm back to normal again just in case😂😂

@Jenna before we had our first he was very much a "you get your tubes tied, I'm not taking away my manhood" kinda guy, but I think watching me squeeze a 10lb baby out made him think "nah she's done enough at this point"😂😂😂

Everything I see from others shows men are fine like two to three days after

I’ve read a week downtime at most how we, seeing that you hate condoms it’s extremely important to use them after his healing for a few months. His sperm won’t be immediately inactive. All the best. Try to follow doctors orders to avoid an accident.

My husband is a two time survivor of the vasectomy. Easy breezy…..best advice…..go in for those checks!!! We had our unexpected blessing 13 years after his 1st vasectomy! I wouldn’t change a thing. However, I did say I couldn’t do it again 13 years after our bonus baby!

@Beth yeah I was a vasectomy baby so he won't be going anywhere near there until we've found out for definite he's shooting blanks😂😂😂
