Beginning of BLW

Hey! So my boy is only 5 and a half months and we are fully prepared for feeding. We have been saying before he was born, we would do purees and baby led weaning (combo feeding) from his first day of eating. So his first meal will be puréed sweet potato and steamed sweet potato cut length ways (about the size of my pinky). Does anyone have any tips for combo feeding? Obviously we will follow baby boy and see his preferences to see if we need to do more purees or blw but any advice is appreciated 🙂

I basically do purées for breakfast and lunch (mainly because I have no idea of what meals to do lol) but dinner I do full blw so like pasta then broccoli and then a yougurt on the side x

Baby may choke/gag with blw initially but thats fine, prepare yourself! Teach your child to spit out from early on. You're going straight in with sweet taste id maybe offer broccoli with the sweet potato puree. There's no advice just have fun it's about introducing your baby to new tastes, flavours and developing his eating skills. Introducing flavours of dishes you typically prepare are always helpful.

@Emma ah okay interesting! X

@Anita Yeah of course, we’ve done a few classes and help groups☺️ Can I mix sweet potato and broccoli straight away? Isn’t it one food a day just in case of allergies? Thank you so much!

@Emily yes one food every 3-5 days to ensure they are handling the food well
