iPad

I’ve noticed that every time I pick my daughter up from nursery at around half 4/5 the children are all crowded round a mini iPad watching You Tube. I try to keep TV to a minimum at home and feel like this is a bit lazy considering I’m paying a lot of money for her to be at nursery. What are everyone’s thoughts on this? Am I overreacting?

Definitely not! I would be complaining to management!

I don't think you're over reacting, I wouldn't be happy.

I wouldn’t be happy either. But I have also worked at nurseries and this tends to happens at quite a few towards the end of the day when there are fewer staff and you need to clean the rooms whilst also looking after children.

I’d be disappointed in this. My older daughter’s nursery would occasionally put something educational on when they were doing a particular topic but I don’t think that was until she was in the pre school group.

That is not okay. I’d definitely confront management about that. Nursery isn’t cheap and for them to be sat at an iPad is outrageous

Id be annoyed if they had any screen time

Absolutely not ok. In my area you’re paying just shy of £3000 a month for full time nursery. If I got a whiff of any screen time I’d be very disappointed. If you wanted them to watch TV while you work, you wouldn’t need to send them to nursery…

Fuming!! You are not over reacting at all

It depends on whether they have 'Ipad' time, which just happens to be when you pick them up. Its the nursery's job to help ready your LO for the world, which is becoming more tech reliant. I would definitely be questioning it, but I would go in from a 'what is my child gaining from this activity' point of view, and is it ONLY at that time, how long arevthey allowed it and is there a lot of access, or just a few minutes a day?
